Sunday Stealing: The Queen's Meme

Hello and welcome! I have to work today, but I've left the place open and linked up with Bev and the gang for Sunday Stealing. So, come on in and take a look around. Put your feet up, enjoy a cup of whatever you like and check out my answers to this week's questions. I'll be sure to come around and visit you all after work.

Stolen from The Queen's Meme

1. January usually has ample amounts of snowfall in parts of the world. Did you ever make snow cream as a kid?  No, never. In fact, I don't think I ever even heard of it until a few years ago in one of these memes we all do. My favorite treat made of snow was snow with the powder mix for gelatin sprinkled on it. My friends and I ate it all the time until we got in trouble for taking all the Jell-O from our homes.

2. January is one of the months with 31 days. What are you going to do with that extra day?  I'd say the chances are pretty good that I will be working that day.

3.  What is your favorite magazine?  Flea Market Style. I love seeing what treasures other people find and the creative ways they use them.

4.
If you live to be 99 years old, what would you like your life to be like in that last decade??  I'd like to be healthy and have my mind in tact so I could enjoy whatever activities I chose to do. I guess I'd also like the freedom to do a lot of reading and writing. I'd want to be surrounded by family and friends, too, but at that age there probably wouldn't be very many people still around to be in the friend category.

5.
The great world of Wikipedia tells me that scientists claim 99% of all documented species are extinct. Which remaining species in the 1% category would you really like to see extinct.  And which species in the 99% category would you like to bring back?  Well, I hate to wish a species extinct, but I could really do without snakes. As for what I'd bring back, I don't know that I'd bring anything back. Survival of the fittest and all that...bringing them back just might result in them going extinct all over again.

6. On January 14, 1986 motorists were required for the first time to wear seat belts? Do you always buckle up? Why or why not?  Yes, I do, because it's the law and it's the smart thing to do. Too many things can go wrong when you are on the road. Why take any chances? Plus, it was a good example to my kids and now my grandkids.

7. Why did the cow jump over the moon?  The farmer had really cold hands when he tried to milk her that morning?

9. Have you said anything in the last 24 hours that you regret?  No, I don't think I've stuck my foot in my mouth that recently.

10. Have you ever written anything on your blog that you wish you could take back?  Nothing these days, but years ago when our daughter-in-law was first living with our son I had a blog that I took great pains to keep anonymous so it could be a venting place for my frustrations about how she acted with our family and how our son was being since he was with her. I wasn't that I went on and on about how awful she was or anything. It was mostly about the pain I was feeling. The blog was actually the most popular and widely read one I've ever had, but I learned the hard way that nothing online is ever completely anonymous. I still don't know how he did it, but my son found it and knew it was me. He did not take it well. I deleted the whole thing immediately. Since then I am very careful about what I say online and I never try to hide.

11. Are you the blabber or the blabbee? Tell us your most embarrassing blabbermouth moment.
I don't know. I suppose we all fall into both categories now and then. I hate to think any of us are one or the other ALL the time. And if it was a blabbermouth moment then it was something that shouldn't have been said, so it probably shouldn't be repeated now.

12. How important is a cell phone in your life?  I hate to admit it, but I do depend on it a lot, but for my job, not for personal use. I could honestly take it or leave it for myself, but I need the internet access and music for my work with the residents at the home. And I have to admit, I get a kick out of seeing someone in their 90's be amazed by the phone and what it can do and then move into being able to do a few things on it themselves if I let them.

13.
A "cuisine" is typically influenced by and named after geographical regions and cultures. Pretend your blog is a country. What is the name of your cuisine? Dinner In a Cup? Tasty Cups? Fast, Easy & In A Cup? Cup-o-Comfort? I don't know...I don't think I'm thinking about this one the right way.

14. You are the Blog Paparazzi! Which blogger's real photograph are you most interested in getting?  The ever elusive Gal's.

15. Are you always on time or just a tad late?  I was raised to always be early, but 35 years with my hubby has me running just a bit late. Just like him.

16. Can you think of a time when you were late for something and it was REALLY a big deal?  No. I've never been that late for anything.

17. If you were on your way to work and had five minutes to get there, would you stop in the road to rescue a crossing turtle?  No. My route to work is a major highway and people FLY on it. It wouldn't be safe to stop and run into the road for a turtle. I value the turtle, but not enough to die for it.

18.
When you are having a really good day, what usually makes it good?  When the people around me are happy and having a good day. Or when I can do something to make their day better.

19.  What is the most annoying Christmas song?  The Twelve Days of Christmas. I am not a fan.

20. You are Snow White. Which dwarf is your favorite and why?  Dopey, because he's just so darned cute and so earnest in his efforts to please.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

  4. OK, I laughed out loud about the farmer having cold hands! I'd not heard of that magazine, but it sure sounds good. Pre-retirement I, too, took great pains to remain anonymous; hence, "Mevely" (v. Myra). My cuisine? First thing that came to mind would be Cheesy Grits.

    1. The only version of that song I enjoy is the YouTube video of the two teachers acting it out. They are hilarious and I'm sure their students will NEVER forget them!

  7. On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a partridge in a pear tree. On the second day of Christmas . . . naw, I won't be that annoying. :-) Interesting story about your blog. I tried to keep mine anonymous for a long time and managed it for four years, but then my brother found it. I thought about starting a new one but didn't see the point. I suspect some of my earlier posts are probably too pointed, but oh well.

    1. Yeah, relatives who know how to dig around make it hard to be anonymous online.

  10. I'm flattered that you mentioned me on #14, and I like thinking of myself as "ever elusive." It imbues me with a cyber glamor I just don't have in real life.

However, #10 is why you're simply not going to see my face. I've changed quite a few names on my blog and I figure that, as long as I keep my dimpled visage a secret.

    1. I get it, really. If you want to be free to speak all that is on your mind you have to be anonymous or have the ability to not give a care to what others think of you. I don't have that ability and I don't want to. I'd rather let the hurt and anger go and just be nice...no worries that way.

  11. #10 I can definitely relate to. My ex-husband found mine. I used pseudonyms for myself and anyone I mentioned. That was quite a few years ago. Right now I have to watch what I write about because I divulged my blog address to my spouse’s sibling who wrote a book and wants me to review it on my blog. I had to go back through all my posts and set to “draft” anything too colorful, or anything that mentioned any of the siblings.

    1. Yikes! These days I figure it's just easier to not say anything if I can't say something nice. And I usually think twice before I hit publish.
