Woohoo! Here we are, the first Saturday 9 of 2020. It just seems so crazy how fast time is flying. In a conversation with a friend, we realized that we had lived in 6 decades, 2 centuries, and 2 millenniums. Holy cow! And now that I've made you feel old let's get to this week's questions.
Saturday 9: Keep Me Warm (2014)
Unfamiliar
with this week's tune? Hear it here.
Here's our first Saturday 9 of 2020!
1) Are you feeling warm and cozy as you answer these questions? I sure am. Even though it rained all day today the temperature stayed in the upper 50's. It's going to start out there tomorrow, but drop later in the day and snow is supposed to be on its way. Yay. Not.
2) This time of year is important to college football fans. Are you watching/have you watched any of the Bowl games this year? Nope, not a single one. I'm not a huge college football fan, but I've been working through most of the games this year, anyway.
3) Crazy Sam's been cold/flu free so far this winter and credits the Echinacea she takes every morning. Her brother insists she's wasting her money. Do you take any herbal supplements? Sometimes, but not on any regular basis. FYI, elderberry is supposed to be good for colds. I also use essential oils for some things like muscle aches, congestion, and headaches.
4) In the video for this song, Erin Bowman is singing in front of lights and ornaments. Are you sorry to see the decorations slowly disappear? Or do you think they should all come down right away? No, not really sorry. I absolutely love them for the month they are up from Thanksgiving to New Years, but I am ready for them to be gone by then.
5) She sings about socks, a scarf and a sweater. Tell us about your favorite sweater. I guess that would have to be the longer, light-weight cowlneck sweater I found at Walmart. I like it so much I have it in black, red, and bright blue. I get a LOT of compliments every time I wear one, especially the blue one.
6) Erin credits her 8th grade choir teacher for believing in her and giving her a solo. That helped give her the confidence to go into performing professionally. When you were in 8th grade, did you know what you wanted to be when you grew up? I had lots of ideas...architect, archeologist, social worker, radio dj, magazine editor...just to name a few.
7)
This song has been used in commercials for McDonald's and Turner Classic Movies. What commercial have you seen recently? Was it on TV or online? The one where "Mayhem" is a St. Bernard puppy in the car with Tina Fey. I love those commercials. Whoever thought them up is brilliant! Oh, and I saw it on TV.
8) In 2014, when this song was first released, we lost both Joan Rivers and Robin Williams. What comedian always makes you laugh? Wow...that's kind of a tough call. Most of them are so crude these days and I just don't appreciate that kind of humor. I do like the Blue Collar Comedy guys most of the time, but even Jeff Foxworthy and definitely Larry the Cable Guy get pretty crude at times. I can't think of anyone right now that ALWAYS makes me laugh.
9) Random question -- There are two performers in the trapeze act: the one who flies through the air and the one who catches the flier. Which would you rather be? I don't want to be either one! Can I be the one on the ground holding the guide ropes?
That's all for today. Have a happy Saturday and I will catch up with everyone later. It's a working weekend for me.
I love those Mayhem commercials! Very clever! I'm not a fan of football (unless it's the Seahawks!) but my husband watches every. single. game. College or the NFL. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge football fan these days, but I do still love my Steelers and if I don't have anything else to do I'll watch Oklahoma and Alabama play. My dad was the same as your husband. Every.Single.Game. of Every. Single. Sport. Happy New Year to you, too!
DeleteYes, those Mayhem commercials are funny. I also like many of the Progressive Insurance Commercials with Flo. I guess insurance companies have big creative advertising budgets. I don't really follow college football - maybe just a bit for my Alma Mater - the University of Utah, especially when they play their rival Brigham Young University, which is where both my daughter and son-in-law graduated from. I hope you have a good weekend - even though you have to work. I hope your boss is nice. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Progressive commercials are funny, too. I just love the Mayhem ones so much. I'm always excited for a new one so I can see what he's up to next. I work in the dementia unit on the weekends. Always. So I wouldn't see my boss, but she doesn't work weekends, anyway.
DeleteHA! I picked the same commercials, LOL. I hope you have a great day, friend. smiles.
ReplyDeleteIt was an "interesting" day. I'll leave it at that. lol
DeleteMe, too! I was telling Tom just last night (that) I never tire of the 'mayhem guy.' Being as I've trust issues, I'd have to play the part of catcher.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how Tina Fey doesn't bust out laughing when he licks her face. I'd probably have taken a million takes to get it filmed.
DeleteFirst time for me to participate in Saturday 9 and it was fun.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers and have a good day.
Hi Gloria and welcome!
DeleteI use essential oils too!
ReplyDeleteI don't think they are a cure-all, but some of them definitely have some healing properties. I think we are just rediscovering what people knew and used for centuries before modern medicine and all its pills.
DeleteI love those Mayhem commercials, too! Joe looked it up and he gets about $4,200 each time one of those commercials airs! Not bad. He is so good at being mayhem!
ReplyDeleteThat he is! I read a list of the highest paid commercial actors and he's up there, Flo from Progressive, but for the life of me, I can't remember who was the highest paid.
DeleteI do like college football---well, Boise State and Penn State. And, I always root for whoever is playing Alabama or LSU. It's kind of hard to watch the bowl games these days, though, as most of them are on ESPN, which we don't get.
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah, those Mayhem commercials are hilarious. I also love the GEICO commercial with Maxwell the pig wee-weeing all the way home.
It's always fun reading these questions and your answers.
Uh-oh, I always root for Alabama. Roll Tide! ;) I will also watch Oklahoma if I don't have anything else to do, but I'm not "into" college ball enough to be called a fan.
DeleteI still quote that pig! lol
I will help you on the ground...hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteI use essential oils too. Loved your answers! Have a great weekend!
