Everybody's doing it. I hadn't done it in several years, but I thought, "why not?" So, I took the plunge and found myself a word for the year. This year I decided to try Dayspring's new quiz to help you find your word. I answered 7 simple questions and ta-dah! My word for 2020 is...
I decided to accept it as my word for the year because it really does reflect my thinking. One of my main goals for the year is to commit myself more fully to my relationship with the Lord. I want to study His Word more, spend more time with Him, live more obediently to His teachings, truly put Him in charge of my life and filter everything I say and do through my relationship with Him.
That is such a great word. I love it! Enjoy the rest of the week. I hope all goes well! See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Deb. I hope you have a wonderful week, as well.
DeleteI took the Dayspring quiz too, and "abide" is the word I got. However, I had already been praying about my word, and the word I arrived at then, I ultimately decided to go with. Will be writing about that soon.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to the heart you have for wanting to grow in your relationship with the Lord!
I wasn't really coming up with any particular word, but "abide" really captured where my prayers, study, and thinking have been leading me. Coincidence? I don't believe in coincidence. I believe God just led me to it to solidify my thoughts.
DeleteI took that quiz twice, at two different times of day and my word both times was the same as yours. I just haven't found "my word" yet. Maybe this year will be without one. Abide is a great word!! I see Patti got the same as we did. We must be more alike in our thinking than we knew!
ReplyDeleteI help a resident at the nursing home take it yesterday when we were discussing New Year's resolutions and she got "stand." She was very pleased with that word. I decided to go ahead and adopt the Dayspring word because it really reflects where I am anyway.
DeleteI did it twice because I didnt like my word - but got it both times.. LOL.. Mine was GATHER
ReplyDeleteI love the Dayspring site … not so much my word: BLOOM. (Huh?) Abide sounds delightfully old-fashioned and rich with meaning.
ReplyDeleteI chose MORE. Because sometimes if I don't completely succeed, I feel like I failed. So I'm reminding myself I don't need to do it ALL, I don't need to do EVERYTHING, I just need to do MORE.
ReplyDeleteYour post inadvertently reinforces my thinking. You wrote: "One of my main goals for the year is to commit myself MORE fully to my relationship with the Lord. I want to study His Word MORE, spend MORE time with Him, live MORE obediently to His teachings ..." Caps are mine, of course. But I enjoyed your post because in that way, I feel like we're on the same page.
Good luck to us both!
