For those of you who asked about the turkey (I shared on my Saturday 9 post that I would be injecting the bird with herbed butter, slathering it all over with herbed butter, and pouring a bottle of champagne into the bottom of the roaster.), it was absolutely AMAZING!! It smelled sooooo good while it was cooking and you could smell it outside at least 2-3 houses away! When done it was so moist we couldn't cut it, it just fell apart...even the breast. The taste was divine and the champagne in the gravy added just a little bit of tang that was delicious. Here's the finished product.
One of today's highlights was also being able to snap a picture of 4 generations together. My mom, me, my kids, and the grands.

Great to hear the champagne turned out well. I want to try that next time myself. I am with you on the piles of money!!
ReplyDeleteMe, Myself & I is going to try it on a chicken. Maybe you could do that just for yourself or you and a friend if a turkey is too much?
Deletehmm..."A dirty deed was done dirt cheap!" interesting to know what that was, LOLOLOL (aren't I just something, LOLOLOL)...Have a great day friend, great photo of you and your family, smiles.
ReplyDeleteNo dirty deeds done around here any time lately. Just that the AC/DC song is the first thing that comes to mind.
DeleteI am going to try your turkey trick on a roast chicken--it sounds amazing, and I figure a chicken is a better size for our 2 person household :)
ReplyDeleteYou could probably get away with 1/2 bottle of champagne then and drink the rest. lol Let me know how it works with the chicken.
DeleteWhat great answers to not-so-easy questions! #10, for sure. Seems every year about this time I need to guard against melancholy. Hope you're enjoying a very relaxing day!
ReplyDeleteYeah, my family is scattered all over the place, which I don't normally mind but come the holidays and I miss the huge family dinners and gatherings with all the aunts, uncles and cousins together.
DeleteI think Autumn is over here too, but I did not say that...hahahaha
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe that Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap did not come to mine for me! I hear that song all of the time. Loved your answers. Have a nice day!

I love Christmas, but I'm sad to see autumn go. I am no fan of winter. Snow for Christmas, yes, but who needs it the rest of the time?
DeleteAutumn is gone here :( We share Andy Griffin cant go wrong there and also the corruption going on. Your turkey looks great Gator smoked our turkey using butter and herbed butter it fell off the bone as well
ReplyDeleteMy step-dad has smoked our turkey a couple of times, but at 78 I think his turkey smoking days are behind him. Bummer, because that is really good!
DeleteThat turkey looks gorgeous and I'm glad it turned out great! We didn't have Thanksgiving this year. :-( Oh well. We used to have Andy Griffith on at 5:30 p.m. everyday for nearly 35 years and then the TV station decided to put news on. Some days I really miss getting supper ready with Andy on.
ReplyDeleteBummer on not having Thanksgiving, but I get it. Times and things change. I know the first time the holidays didn't go as they always had with our kids I was not a happy camper. My dad was super into tradition and I guess I got that from him, too. Letting go of the old and making new traditions was HARD.
DeleteAndy and Mayberry...they just kind of embody all the things we are missing these days.
So let me know when you're ready for that road trip!
ReplyDeleteYesterday!

ReplyDeleteSorry Stacy, my pre-post edit fell on it's face!
ReplyDeleteOk here goes...
haha When you are feeling lazy you just go with it. I don't blame you!
I'm ready for a road trip, too! "Let's Went!" as the Cisco Kid's friend used to say.
That Turkey sound fantabulous!
I'm up for "Let's went!"
DeleteLincoln Highway...is that Route 66? I almost put that as my answer! I miss road trips back to my hometown. When my kids were little we visited my hometown often. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap are the best!

The Lincoln Highway is Route 30, the first transcontinental highway. I've always wanted to drive to California on it since it passes within 3 miles of my house.
DeleteYour turkey looks AMAZING! Yum. Fun fill-ins today. Well done!
ReplyDeleteIt tasted amazing, too, and I'm tickled that it isn't even dry after we reheat it.
DeleteHi Stacey,
ReplyDeleteWe agree on a few things there. I don't understand the hatred in the world at the moment either.
:o)
Cheers
