Sunday Stealing: Countdown

Of this week's questions Bev says:

These are from Kwizgiver.  Thanks to The Gal Herself for the suggestion.  Any complaints, complain to them!

Join in the fun here...and keep your complaints to yourself!

[ 15 things that make you smile ]  My grandchildren, my husband, my kids, my dog, heading down the road on a sunny summer morning, walking on the beach, parades, Christmas, Thanksgiving, laughing with friends, the nursing home residents I work with, good music, good food, and knowing I am saved.

[ 14 things that make you frown ]  Child abuse, spouse abuse, elder abuse, animal abuse, politics, liars, those who talk a lot about what's wrong but do nothing to help the situation, hatred, know-it-alls, selfishness, the stupid Catalpa worms in my Catalpa trees, the news media, my boss, and indifference.

[ 13 things you see every day ]  My husband, my Poodle, my reflection in the mirror, my mom's house from my kitchen window, my daughter's house from the backyard when I take the dog out, the news, the rooster lamp near my spot on the couch, Diet Coke, someone who needs to be shown kindness, the stuff that seems to always accumulate on the kitchen island, a bunch of stuff I should get rid of but can't bring myself to, reasons to hate my curly hair, pictures of my family.

[ 12 things you have always wanted to try ]  Parasailing, driving across the country on Rt. 30, going on vacation by myself, escargot (but I got to do that this summer), being an antique dealer or picker (as my job), driving a race car, painting, moving to some remote location, swimming with dolphins, writing (a book), having a neat and organized home (ha!), and making braided rugs.

[ 11 objects that mean a lot to you ]  A photo of my grandparents on their wedding day, pictures of my kids and grandkids, my books, my journals, my grandmother's recipe box, my Bibles, the big corner cupboard Tim bought me, my great-grandmother's dough box, the big cast iron skillet my grandfather bought me when I got engaged, all the family tree materials I have, and another great-grandmother's china cupboard.

[ 10 places you have been ]  Niagara Falls U.S., Niagara Falls Canada, Orlando, Tampa Bay, Baltimore, Boston, Chincoteague/Assateague Islands in Virginia, St. John's Bay, Halifax, Bar Harbor....

[ 9 of your favorite foods ]  Shrimp, lobster, crab, Chinese beef with broccoli, beef enchiladas, tacos, pizza, steak, salad.

[ 8 things you would rather be doing ]  Relaxing on a cruise, walking on the beach, sleeping, hanging out with friends, watching a good movie, reading a good book, going to a flea market, taking my grandkids someplace they've never been or really enjoy, and winning the lottery!

[ 7 things you would take to a deserted island ]  Snake boots, a big knife, a skillet, a pot, my favorite pillow, matches or a lighter, my Bible and journal.

[ 6 things you wish you never had to do ]  Tell someone bad news, see my boss, lose anyone I love, get sick, fold laundry, and live with aches and pains.

[ 5 people that mean the world to you ]  My husband, my kids, and my grandkids...that's 7 but who am I going to leave out? (And it goes without saying that Jesus would be at the top of the list.)

[ 4 of your biggest fears ]  Snakes, being old and broke, getting dementia, having to live in a nursing home.

[ 3 words to describe how you feel right now ]  Content, warm, tired.

[ 2 things you're excited for ]  Christmas with our grandson Colton (he'll be 3 this year and so much fun) and the next 3 months in general...it's my favorite part of the year.

[ 1 thing you want to say to someone ]  You are not the center of the universe and you aren't always right.

Whew! This was a tough one, Bev. I really had to think about most of these. It will be interesting to read everyone's answers, but man, I vote for easy questions next week! NOT A COMPLAINT...JUST SAYIN' MY BRAIN IS TIRED. lol

  2. I agree with Terri! I've been hooked on Atkins beef and broccoli of late. So, I'm so curious ... how did you like the escargot?

    1. I loved escargot! Our waiter made sure I got some every night at dinner...even when it wasn't on the menu.

  3. Thanks for completing it. I had problems with it too, which is why I said to complain to Kwizgiver and The Gal Herself!! Easier next wee, I promise!

  4. There was a beautiful catalpa tree near on the County Grounds. It took my friend Spewgie and I a long time to identify. Because it wasn't in our tree book because it didn't belong here. Really big for a catalpa, too. But there is no mistaking those leaves and seed pods. Very pretty.

    1. Our trees aren't huge yet, but my mom's is the tallest, widest tree in the neighborhood. Ours makes wonderful shade and I get a kick out of people walking under it for the first time...they are so amazed by the beans and you can see their confusion. The guy that delivers Chinese take-out is the funniest. He's amazed every time. lol
