What was you first movie-going experience without your parents? I'm not sure. I think it might have been one of those Saturday afternoon matinees where kids could go spend the whole afternoon at the theater. I think I whined until my parents let me go with my older cousin and I think the movie was something along the lines of Godzilla. I also remember lots of cartoons and during the intermission there was a live show people did on the stage in costumes of all the Universal Studios monsters and a lot of cartoon characters. That seems to be the first parentless foray into the movies I can remember.
Do you still buy DVDs or Blu Rays (or do you just stream them)? I am hopelessly old-fashioned. I buy Blu Ray. I've never streamed a movie and I have no plans to until it's the ONLY way to watch.
What is your guilty pleasure movie? What about it works for you? Dirty Dancing gets this honor. It's a good summer love story in which the little guy teaches those in power not to be so judgmental. It has a great soundtrack, memorable characters and lines, and....Patrick Swayze!
You have compiled a list of your top 10 movies. Which movies do you like, but would not make the list? The LOTR and Star Wars series, Shindler's List....that's all I can think of right at the moment. They are all exceptional movies, but not ones I have ever watched more than once. That rules them out for top honors for me.
Which movie(s) do you compulsively watch over and over again? What makes it so great? I love to laugh so the movies I watch over and over tend to be comedies. Some that I will watch every time they are on (and also own and watch at other times) are The Great Outdoors with John Candy and Dan Aykroyd; Tom Hanks' campy The Burbs; and My Life in Ruins with Nia Vardalos. The scenery in My Life in Ruins is also a great escape on a miserable winter night.
Classic(s) you’re embarrassed to admit you haven’t seen yet? Gone With the Wind.
Do you have any movie posters hanging on your wall? If yes, which ones and why? No.
Tell us about a movie that you are passionate about. I don't know that I'm "passionate" about any movie. I just enjoy a movie. I don't get all fan girl over them.
What is a movie you vow to never watch? Why? I can't think of one specific movie, but as a rule I don't watch horror movies or the exceptionally violent or crude movies. Why? I just don't enjoy them and there are some things I don't think should be entertainment as they just add to desensitizing us as a society.
Tell us about a movie that literally left you speechless. American Sniper. It left the whole theater speechless.
What’s a movie that you always recommend? Little Women. I'm partial to the Elizabeth Taylor version.
Who is an actor you always watch, no matter how crappy the movie? Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones, Sam Elliot, John Travolta, Ryan Reynolds....unless the crappy movie falls into the territory of those types I won't watch.
Who is an actor you don’t get the appeal for? Why don’t you like them? Ashton Kutcher. I don't really know what it is about him, but I just don't get why he continues to be a star.
Who is an actor, living or dead, you’d love to meet? Why do they intrigue you? Christopher Walken. He has always played the most off-beat characters, but really seems to have a lot of fun with it. I don't know...I just think he'd be fun to talk to.
Sexiest actor/actress you’ve seen. (Picture requested!) Same guy it always is when this comes up...Kyle Chandler.
Although, lately I'm thinking Jason Momoa as Aquaman isn't too shabby, either.
You are casting a movie, pick four or five actors you’d hire to be in it and why we’d love them together. John Travolta, Kyle Chandler, Daniel Craig, Sam Elliot. Give them the right movie and I think they'd be pretty amazing together. They can all do tough, tender, and funny...and it would be an awful lot of eye candy in one place!
Which are your favorite actor pairings of all time? Doris Day and Rock Hudson, Abbot and Costello, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr.
Have you ever watched movies from a decade that was before you were born? If so, which decade is your favorite? I've watched lots of movies older than me. I don't think any one decade appeals more than another, though.
If you were to be in a movie would you rather play the hero, villain or anti-hero? Why? I don't know. It would depend on the story and the characters. What I would be called on to do in the role.
Jason Momoa is right good lookin', I must say. Good call.
ReplyDeleteAnd funny. I loved his spin on Aquaman. He seems like a nice guy in real life, too.
Delete100% agree about American Sniper … blew my mind (and heart). I think the honors(?) for least-liked would be Brad Pitt. Christopher Walken broke my heart in Deer Hunter.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up near Pittsburgh, the Deer Hunter was a must see. I've seen it many times. And yes, didn't think of him, but Brad Pitt is a big m'eh in my book.
DeleteAmerican Sniper! YES! Great answer! Loved your answers! Have a nice day!

I thought it was so cool that the whole theater was silent when the movie ended.
DeleteI forgot about Doris Day and Rock Hudson Another great pairing.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving everyone's answers today.
I passed on this one but your answers are great! I've not seen American Sniper. Need to look it up.
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe I didnt think of Doris and Rock nor Dirty Dancing... So many films,, so little time!
