The Weekend & Currently

Good morning and welcome to a new week! Yes, it is (early) Monday morning and I'm in a good mood...having the weekend off will do that for me. I hope this morning finds you recharged and ready to go, as well.

It was a nice weekend. Mom and I headed out early Saturday morning to check out a community garage sale. There were only a few houses participating so we ended up going to another community-wide sale. I found a few bargains, but didn't load up the car like I have other years. I came home with 2 cute little statues for the flower beds, Rock'em-Sock'em Robots and a mini-golf set for Colton, and some very nice outfits for little Leah when she gets here. Mom bought a few baby outfits, books, and yarn. We had a good time at the sales and when we were done we had lunch at Arby's. Their Ultimate BLT is really good!

Mom worried me a little. She's had cataract surgery on both eyes so maybe that has something to do with it, but she doesn't seem to have any depth perception. She tripped over nearly every slight rise she came to. The ones she didn't trip over where when she was being very deliberate in placing her foot...that was kind of like watching a dog try to walk when you put boots on it. I hope this isn't an indication that falls are going to be in our future, because I'm already thinking this is why she has so many fender benders.

Tim took a nap when he got home from work and I made meatloaf for supper. We went to Walmart to do our shopping after we ate then spent the rest of the evening relaxing and watching Columbo.

Yesterday, we worked at home. He worked on the bathroom remodel. He got a lot of tile done! Maybe it will be done soon?! I'm afraid to hope, but it is so exciting to look through the doorway and see tile.

I went through all our clothes in the process of switching out the winter clothes for our summer ones. I was brutal and ended up with 4 garbage bags full of clothes to donate.

We kept Colton for a while in the afternoon. He was really Nana's boy and I was loving that since lately he's been all about Pappy. He was in a snuggly mood and after we dropped off the clothes at Goodwill and stopped to get ice cream, he and I cuddled up and watched one of the Ice Age movies.

How was your weekend?

Currently...

I am...

Reading: Night Shift (Midnight, Texas) by Charlaine Harris

Listening to: the local morning news and weather

Loving: the temperatures will be cooler the next couple of days and no rain until mid week

Thinking: I need to hurry up so I can get my shower and do my hair

Feeling: rested and happy

Celebrating: progress on the bathroom remodel (it will be 3 years in October since it was begun!)

Grateful for: the way God knows just what we need and when we need it

Weather: plenty of sunshine the next couple of days, but only a high of 62 today and down in the 40s overnight...rain (and apparently lots of it) due on Wednesday and through the rest of the week and weekend

Enjoying: just sitting here and relaxing

A quote I want to share:

  1. Yum, meatloaf! I've not (yet) had cataract surgery, but wonder if I'm not experiencing depth perception challenges. Last month I was driving us to my son's place when I swerved to avoid what looked like debris on the road. Turned out to be a shadow and poor Tom liked to have a heart attack.

PS - Leah? Has 'Brooklyn' been replaced?

  2. Isnt it funny how kids switch back & forth? Right now, our little grandbuddy is ALL ABOUT Pappy.
Glad you got a weekend off! I'm sure they feel like winning the lottery when you get them!!!
Maybe you need to have your mom's eyes checked. That's scary - anything dealing with eyes freaks me out. They are so vital.

  3. Good quote! You did have a great weekend! Sounds like some great bargains found at the yard sales! Hope your mom gets her eyes check again. Joe has had both of his eyes done and didn't have a depth perception problem. Feel better - get them checked! Have a good week, Stacy!
