Thankful Thursday

Linking up this morning with sweet blogging neighbor, Rebecca @ Knit By God's Hand to offer a little thanks to the One who blesses us on this Thankful Thursday.

This week I am thankful...

* I think I've finally found the "magic" ticket to giving up Diet Coke. I read an article yesterday about a study that suggests that even one measly little diet soda per day significantly increases your chance of developing dementia. Whaaaaat???? Okay, I work with dementia patients every day. THAT scares me. Actually, it terrifies me. I do not want that to be my future. (Be prepared for bad moods as the withdrawal ensues.) Oh, the same study also linked drinking diet soda to an increased chance of stroke.

* my work schedule has changed again. It's actually much simpler. The powers that be have decided that the activities staff should now come in 8-4 EVERY day to be with the residents who have to wait for the second round of meals (due to being those who need to be fed). It's mostly due to the fact that the CNAs have been refusing to follow the rules and lining the residents up in the halls so they don't have to do as much running. It's a dignity thing. We've got more on our plates to get done in a day (they also added getting water to all the residents twice a day...and making the CNAs give it to those who can't drink it themselves) but we get to go home earlier.

* grandbaby #4 seems to be healthy and doing well (Momma is sure having a tough time, though) and we found out "it" is a SHE! We'll be welcoming Brooklyn Rose in late July or early August (likely when we are on the cruise).

* Tim had a good day yesterday and didn't have his usual pain. It would be nice if that lasted, but even a day's break from it is welcome.

* as always, for all of you!

I could go on, but this new work schedule means I have to get moving and out the door a lot sooner. I've got to go get ready. Have a blessed and amazing day!

  1. I'm sure having a set schedule is going to be so nice!!!!!
let me tell you - that's EXACTLY why I gave up Diet Coke. I watched a documentary & saw what artificial sweetner does to the brain... after I watched it, that was it - I never drank another one. Cold Turkey - speaking of turkey - just one day, watching another documentary, I gave up meat... these documentaries are something I take seriously apparently.

  2. That's it … I'm never touching another diet soda. There's lots to fear, but dementia is right up there on my Top 5.

  3. Hope the new schedule works out well for you! Hopefully it will shake out and feel okay after a few days. Glad hubby had a pain-free day! Congrats on the new granddaughter due in late summer! I drink, maybe 3-4 diet sodas a week, if that. I am thankful for you!!
