No, I didn't watch the Oscars, but then, I haven't watched the Oscars in years...mostly because I've rarely seen any of the movies being hyped and maybe in recent years because I don't want to hear Hollywood's political views. This morning I have to say, that maybe, for the first time in a long time, it sounds like I may have missed a good show. Oh well. I am sure the full videos of those golden moments will soon pop up all over the internet.
So....other than not watching the Oscars, it was a pretty good weekend.
Saturday was a girls' day with my friend, Fran. I went to her house in the morning and she helped me book our cruise for July. She and her husband are the friends who are going to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and invited all their friends to join in the fun. It's looking like Tim and I are going to be the only ones going with them, but that's okay. We will have a great time and this year is our 35th wedding anniversary so we're celebrating that, too.
Once the cruise was booked we said goodbye to Fran's husband and headed to Monroeville. We had lunch at Olive Garden and then hit our favorite stores...At Home, Home Goods, and Kirkland's. I got a couple of little organizational gizmos but behaved myself pretty well. It was just so much fun to get out with a friend and be silly.
I dropped Fran off at home at 4:00 because I had to get home to go to dinner with Tim and my mom and step-dad. Mom and John took us to Red Lobster to thank us for keeping their dog for 3 weeks back in January while they were on a cruise. Red Lobster is having it's annual Lobsterfest so we all enjoyed lobster in its various forms. Yummy!
We were looking forward to a lazy day on Sunday because Tim has really feeling worse than ever this past week. It sort of played out that way, I guess, but our daughter called at 8:00 and asked if she could bring Colton over so they could paint their dining room. Of course we said yes! What grandparents turn down time with their grandkids? We had a good time having him here and Tim got some snuggle time on the couch with him while they watched Mickey Mouse.
The rest of Sunday was totally lazy. It was so windy and the temperature fell from about 55 in the morning to 35 by evening! It wasn't a day we wanted to be out in. I got several loads of laundry done, worked on my Happy Planner for the week, read some of Nine Perfect Strangers, watched people shop for houses in Alaska, and we were going to work on a 1000 piece puzzle...until I opened the box and saw how tiny the pieces were (about 1/2-inch each). That's a project that's going to have to wait until after I get new glasses!
So, that was our Oscar-less weekend. Now it's back to work this morning. I pray you have wonderful week filled with God's blessings!
We haven't watched the Oscars in years either because of the same reason as you. Too much political hoopla instead of what it is supposed to be celebrating. Our newspaper didn't even have the winners listed this morning so I have no idea who won. We don't go the the movies much anymore. Your cruise and your day out with your friend sound great!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so envious of your upcoming cruise! I agree, random moments spent with a good friend a priceless. The Oscars were playing, but neither of us paid any attention …. too lazy, I suppose, to look up from our tablets for anything else. I I've not given a whit about them since Tom Hanks won for Forrest Gump. Ha!
ReplyDeletePoor Tim! What's the next stop for him to find out answers why he's feeling so badly?
ReplyDeleteI didnt watch the Oscars but it was on with the TV on in my kitchen when it first came on & literally in the first 15 minutes, I overheard someone throwing in a political jab & I was like, NOPE - turned it off& went to the bedroom to turn on some Netflix. Its horrible anymore
A cruise??? Let the countdown begin!
I did not watch them either - I just was not into it this year for some reason and I also did not see any of the movies yet. Congrats on the cruise - that will be so amazing! You better post that so I can live vicariously through you!!! Prayers that Tim will start feeling better soon! Have a great week Stacy!
ReplyDeleteI totally stopped watching the Oscars and other award shows for the same reasons. They turn out to be Hollywood's political views. I stopped watching the news for the very same reason that most newscasters give their political views also. I have gone back to reading books instead of turning on the TV 24 hours a day. Happy 35th anniversary Stacy. Have a blessed day ahead.
