Not Bad for a Rainy Weekend

Good Monday morning! It's back to work today after a lovely weekend off, but  before I recap the weekend a couple of things need to be said.

First, my sympathies and and prayers to the Bush family on the loss of George H.W. Bush. I also send my thanks for his service to and love of this country...and for the example he set, both in the White House and as a family man. His marriage to Barbara was nothing short of inspirational.

Second, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the Alaskan earthquake and all the aftershocks and now with those hit by last night's severe storms and tornadoes.

Getting back to my thrilling life (ha!)...  Saturday was supposed to be a day out to lunch and shopping with a friend, but she had been having shoulder pain and saw the chiropractor on Friday. She's feeling fine now, but whatever he did had her in excruciating pain that was making her nauseous before it made it her feel better. On the plus side, he recommended a pain ointment for her that contains CBD oil and she said it really helped. She told me thinking it might help Tim or even me and my foot pain. It's expensive, but worth a try. I've been hearing so much good about CBD oil.

With my shopping buddy out of commission, I just stayed home all day on Saturday. It was kind of a cruddy day, anyway....cold and pouring rain. I played around on the computer, read, did some laundry, organized my office, and Tim and I watched back-to-back Columbo movies after supper.

Sunday began with us watching Colton for a few hours so Mommy could catch a couple hours of sleep.  Then I did meet a couple of friends for a late brunch buffet and was blessed when they treated me! One friend is also the teacher of our Bible study and she brought my Christmas gift because while she gives everyone a small token, she only exchanges a larger gift with two of us. She gave me a pretty battery operated candle that looks like a piece of birch log and a black plaid shawl. Back at home I finally got my summer clothes packed away and my winter clothes put out.

Oh, and there was one tiny little bit of excitement. When I got home from work Friday night Megan and Colton were here waiting for me. As soon as I came in Megan had Colton hand both Tim and I a note...letting us know he'd be a big brother in (probably) August! Maybe I'll get a grandbaby for my birthday?!

    1. Thank you! George H.W. lasted much longer than I thought he would after Barbara passed. I thought they'd be one of those lifelong couples who followed on each other's heals.

  3. I love those battery-operated candles! No toxic scents to bother our furbabies, nor fire danger. (My former boss' son-in-law is a firefighter and he absolutely prohibits having lit candles in their home.)

Soooo happy to hear of your new arrival. Congratulations!
