Thankful Thursday

I'd normally link up with Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand for Thankful Thursday, but the dear girl is still reeling from the sudden loss of her beloved daddy. She's posted a couple of absolutely beautiful tributes that you should take the time to read even if you don't know her....just have some tissues handy. In the meantime, I don't think she will mind if we go ahead and post without her this week. Our prayers are with you, Rebecca Jo, as you go through this difficult time.

This week I am thankful....

* that school is finally over! Seriously. If I had to go drive the bus one more day I would lose my mind. Let the summer vacation begin!

* that the tires finally came in for my car and I was able to get them put on today and get the inspection sticker put on before my car became illegal at midnight.

* everything continues to move fairly well with the closing on the kids' house. It did get bumped back to the 15th instead of the 7th, though, because the soonest a dye test can be done is the 14th. The neighborhood sits on top of old mines and they need to be sure none of the drains go into the mine....a legitimate concern since in the old days before city sewage came through most water did go into the mine. (And don't tell, but there are still one or two of the older homes, my mom's included, that have a pipe sticking up in the backyard that is a direct shaft to the mine. Mom's has been sitting there with an old aluminum pan and a rock on top of it for as long as I can remember. Nobody uses it these days, but when we had the pool and had to drain the cover or lower the water level....into the mine seemed better than flooding anyone's yard.)

* my husband won't be getting surgery on his knee. At least for now. He did tear the meniscus, but opted to get a shot today and next week he will begin physical therapy 3 days per week.

* all the rain that was predicted to hit us from Alberto...didn't. We've seen a few sprinkles and that's it.

* that it stayed fairly comfortable on the buses, temperature-wise, right up until the end. We only had one or two disgustingly hot days.

* the Beth Moore study is really impacting the women in our group. A couple are going through some really bad situations in their marriages and it's ministering to them in such an awesome way. I'm so thankful God allowed me to be part of bringing it to them.

* and of course, for all of you.

Have a blessed evening. I am off to the Beth Moore study!

  1. Congratulations on surviving the last semester! Did you do a little jig? :) I'm praying that between the shot and physical therapy, your hubby finds much relief!

    1. Ha! Yes, I did do a little dance. Thank you, I hope the physical therapy works, too. Our friend is having the surgery and it requires a 6-8 week recovery. I can't imagine my husband sitting around, "being good" for that long.

  2. Congrats on the last day driving the bus and for the nice break ahead for you! God bless you and the Bible study for ministering to those women who really needed it right now! Awesome! Good luck to hubby with the PT. Hope it works for him! Thankful for you, too, my friend!

    1. Thank you for all the kind thoughts and words, Terri. You know when it comes to teaching/leading a Bible study I always find that it ministers to and teaches me just as much, if not more, as it does the ones I'm teaching. God is awesome that way!

  3. I love Beth Moore's studies. I'm doing Annie F. Downs' 100 Days to Brave Devotion this summer. I'm enjoying it too. Our next Bible Study group will start in the fall and I'm not sure which one we're going to do for that.

I hope you have an awesome summer off!!

  4. I'm so glad you've continued on with Thankful Thursday! That makes me so happy to see JOY still flowing in this world that seems so broken to me right now. <3
