I allowed myself the pleasure of sleeping in this morning until the terribly late hour of 7:15. Some of you are shaking your heads, I can see you, thinking that 7:15 is not late at all, but rather ungodly early. It's all in the perception, I suppose. When a person normally wakes at 3:45 to start the day, 7:15 feels like half the day has been wasted. Today, however, I've allowed myself that indulgence.
I don't plan to allow it to become a habit as in years past, though. I am determined to get up and go to bed at something resembling "normal." I'd like my sleeping to fit in the hours of 11:00-6:00. We'll see how it goes. Most summers I fall into the habit of staying up very late and then sleeping in. This summer promises to be different in the fact that our daughter and her family will be moving in next door this month and our littlest grandson will be here all the time.
At this point my summer is wide open. I haven't made any big plans. We're not even sure if we are going to go away for the weekend we'd planned this month to check out the Country Living Fair and the ginormous flea market in Rogers, Ohio due to the condition of my husband's knee. He is supposed to begin physical therapy next week. I guess it will be up to the therapist if he should do that much walking. I know it's not up to my husband, because he will say "Let's go!" no matter how much pain he's in.
One thing I am going to work on over the summer is learning to be a copy writer. I joined an online group that teaches about it. I'm hoping I can learn enough to earn some extra income from it without having to buy all the other (rather expensive) courses they offer.
The other thing I know I will do for sure this summer is spend mornings on the deck with the Lord. There is just no better way to begin the day. Unless it is raining, you will be able to find me out there doing my own studies, preparing for the Beth Moore study I'm leading (at least until we finish at the end of the month), journaling, and maybe studying the writing thing and blogging. Those last two are dependent on how hot it gets on the deck and if there's too much distraction going on since by the time I get to them the sun will be fully up and the neighborhood will be awake.
Anyway, my summer is pretty much a blank, open book at this point. There's plenty I'd like to do, but will it happen? Who knows!

- and on and on....
Whatever you decide to do, I hope you enjoy every single second.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope you enjoy your summer as well.
DeleteGiven your journalism background, I'm thinking being copy writer is a splendid idea! Who knows, it might turn into a lucrative, FULL-time job!
ReplyDeleteWould your husband be willing to rent a wheelchair to better enjoy one or both of these day trips? My Tom was always a 'H*** no' type until he agreed to wheelchair transport in the airports last year. What a difference ..... for BOTH of us.
PS - Your Possibilities List makes me want to draft of my own. Happy Summer!
You are too kind, but that would sure be nice! And no, my husband would be in the same camp as your husband about a wheel chair. Today, though, he tells me after talking to someone else, he might tell the doctor to just go ahead with the surgery.
DeleteHooray for summer vacation!!!
ReplyDeleteRight?!
DeleteCongratulations on your summer break!! I used to rise at 5:00 and was at work by 7:00 so I understand what you are saying about sleeping in. When I first retired, I would get up at 7:00 and almost giggle that I was just getting up when I was usually at my desk. Now I don't get up until 8:00 or 8:30 and love it. Most mornings we eat "brunch" instead of breakfast. Good luck on that bucket list! Keep us posted as you cross them off!
