Book Review: Oath of Honor

In Oath of Honor Lynette Easton kicks off her new Blue Justice series by introducing us to Isabelle "Izzy" St. John and Ryan Marshall, members of two large and very interconnected families from Columbia, South Carolina. Families who live in the same neighborhood, whose children grew up together, and now many members of the two families have law enforcement careers in common.

It's a little confusing at first keeping the family members straight, but Easton's writing moves the story along quickly and she did an excellent job of connecting the dots and developing characters.  It ended up more like getting to know new friends than a struggle to keep track of them all.

The story itself is fast-paced and has plenty of action and intrigue that kept me interested right from the start. It had the drama and crime scene investigation that I enjoy, but without being terribly graphic, and it was full of twists and turns. I didn't find it at all predictable. Just the right touch of romance kept things from getting too heavy.

The best part is that as a Christian book, the bad guys were bad and the good guys were heroes, all without the profanity most books seem to be filled with. It was also nice to see how the characters' faith was a natural, daily part of their lives and how it influenced their actions. 

I thoroughly enjoyed Oath of Honor and am looking forward to getting to know the rest of the St. John and Marshall clans in upcoming Blue Justice books.
