Sunday Stealing: Food, Glorious, Food!

Welcome to this week's edition of Sunday Stealing, which is a bit of a departure from the norm...but I like it! Thanks to Bev and all those she credits with helping. Bon Appetit!

Food meme Stolen from Book Mama, who stole it from Jenefur.
Thanks to The Gal Herself for the suggestion!

01. CHEESE or CHOCOLATE?
It depends on my mood. I nearly always prefer chocolate, but sometimes I would choose a good bit of cheese...particularly a creamy Swiss or a mild Longhorn cheddar.

02. BLUEBERRIES or STRAWBERRIES? I like blueberries, I know they are a superfood, and I have a freezer full of them thanks to my stepdad's blueberry bushes, but I like strawberries a lot more. At least the locally grown, normal-sized ones that still have that amazing taste the store-bought ones don't seem to have.

03. COFFEE or TEA?
Herbal and flavored teas, please. I don't care for the bitter taste of coffee at all.

04. CORN MUFFIN or ENGLISH MUFFIN? English muffin. Love me some nooks and crannies!

05. PANCAKES or FRENCH TOAST? French toast. My husband makes amazing French toast!

06. YOGURT or CREAM CHEESE? It would depend on what I'm using it for. I eat fruited yogurt by itself, but I don't like plain cream cheese on a bagel or anything. Both are good in a variety of recipes.

07. RICE or PASTA? I like both, but probably the pasta edges out the rice. We use either the high protein or whole wheat pastas.

08. CAKE or PIE? Cake. I'm not that crazy about pie.

09. GROUND BEEF or GROUND TURKEY? Usually I prefer beef, but ground turkey can be pretty good in some recipes.

10. HOT DOGS or HAMBURGERS? Again, it depends on my mood and what kind of hotdogs. I don't like cheap hotdogs at all.

11. JELLY or MARMALADE?  Jelly

12. AMERICAN CHEESE or SWISS CHEESE?  Swiss and I will pay the higher price to get the really good stuff.

13. DIET SODA or NO SODA? I am, unfortunately, pretty much enslaved to Diet Coke.

14. LEMONADE or ICED TEA?  It depends on the iced tea. If it's fruit flavored or mint I'd choose it over the lemonade, but otherwise, I'd choose the lemonade.

15. CHERRIES or GRAPES? I love dark, deep red Bing cherries but indulge in small doses as they are so stinking expensive and seem to go bad so quickly these days. Grapes, however, are cheap and abundant so I always have some of them around.

16. CHOCOLATE QUIK or STRAWBERRY QUIK?  The chocolate, I think. Seems to me the last time I had the strawberry it was much too sweet for me.

17. WAFFLES or PANCAKES?  If I'm not making them I don't have any preference. If I'm doing the cooking then I'd probably choose waffles because they are easy to make in the Belgian waffle maker.

18. WHITE BREAD or WHOLE-GRAIN/WHEAT BREAD? Wheat bread

19. PEAS or CARROTS? Carrots. I've never been a big fan of peas, but I think the nursing home, where I work, has ruined me for them. They serve the mushy canned ones several times a week. I hate that taste and the smell makes my stomache roll.

20. PUDDING or FRUIT-FLAVORED GELATIN?  Pudding

21. COLD CEREAL or HOT CEREAL? Cold, if and when I choose either.

22. KETCHUP or MUSTARD? Ketchup and it must be Heinz.

23. MUSTARD or MAYONNAISE? Mayonnaise

24. MAYONNAISE or KETCHUP? Hmm...this one's a bit tougher, but maybe the mayo because I can use it as the base for all kinds of spreads.

25. BLACK OLIVES or GREEN OLIVES?
Niether. Yuck.

26. ONION or GARLIC? Garlic. It's my favorite spice.

27. PLAIN BARBECUE or BARBECUE WITH SAUCE? With sauce.

28. SCRAMBLED EGGS or FRIED EGGS? Fried when they are made just right, but that means I usually just order scrambled to avoid disappointment.

29. EGGS or EGG REPLACEMENTS? Eggs

30. MEAT or VEGETABLES? I don't care for either exclusively. I like both!

31. CHINESE TAKE-OUT or PIZZA? A good, hot pizza trumps everything!

32. SUSHI or DELI SANDWICH? Deli sandwich. I don't like sushi at all.

33. WHITE CLAM CHOWDER or RED CLAM CHOWDER? White

34. KEY LIME PIE or LEMON MERANGUE PIE? Key Lime

35. PIE & ICE CREAM or CAKE & ICE CREAM? Can I just have the ice cream?

36. WHIPPED CREAM or CAKE FROSTING? Whipped cream. Frosting is usually too heavy and sweet for me.

37. HONEY or MAPLE SYRUP? Maple syrup

  2. I find herbal teas are far too weak. Give me a strong cup of (what you might call) English breakfast tea and I am a happy chap.

    :o)

    1. I have to doctor up the English breakfast tea because to me it seems a bit bitter.

  4. Pizza and chocolate are a food group, rightttttttttttttt? {{grin}}

I also can't eat cheap hotdogs, it has to be Nathan's or the kosher ones. The other brands tear up my stomach...

Hope you have a great day! P.S. Pudding with whip cream. smiles.

  7. I agree with you about strawberries. We are fortunate that there is a strawberry stand with berries grown about a mile out of town. I love their berries. I'm a pie person, not cake person.

    1. I could be a pie person if someone would make a strawberry pie!

  8. It depends on my mood for hot dogs and hamburgers also. I love both of them and good quality hot dogs. I agree, the cheap ones are gross. This one is a fun one. Loved your answers! Have a nice day!

    1. Gross, indeed. I can't deal with chunky little bits in my hotdog. Yuck!

  9. I haven't had Quik anything in about 30 years. I didn't know they still made it. It is very difficult to get decent strawberries anymore. Food simply doesn't taste like it did when we were kids (and food was more, you know, real).

    1. I agree. They can grow tons of food, make it last on the shelf, but they don't seem to be able to make it taste good.

  10. Yep... we must have been raised the same way! I dropped that last question off when I copied them over. Maple syrup for me too. Have a good week ahead!

  11. Hi Stacy, canned peas are horrible! But fresh/frozen sweet peas are good. I agree, good hotdogs matter. I love cherries but enjoy grapes too. I like how you answer your questions! I added you to my blog roll too! Have a great week.

    1. Hi Susan, thanks for adding me. I am notoriously slow about that, but I have you bookmarked and will get around to adding you (and the several others waiting) soon! Have a blessed week!
