I am...

Reading...I just finished Murder in the Manor (A Lacey Doyle Cozy Mystery-Book 1) on my new Kindle. It was an easy read, but I enjoyed it and will most likely be downloading the rest of the series at some point.

Listening to...the morning news at the moment. In general, I've been on 70's kick at work and it doesn't matter what genre. From country to disco, if it was new in the 70's I'm listening.

Loving...the art work I bought on Friday to hang on the wall in the spare bedroom. It's a huge Italian street scene in the golds, reds, greens, and oranges the room is decorated with. I actually thought it was 4 separate panels when I bought it, but it turned out to be one 5 ft. long painting. I'll take a picture to post later this week.

Thinking...about all the things I want to do with all the free time I'm going to be having beginning this week.

Feeling...a bit better. After two days in the dementia unit my sore leg is feeling a good bit better. I didn't have to lift my leg into and out of the car with my hands last night...something I have been doing lately because of how much my knee hurt. My friend might be right about a lot of the problem being tight, inflamed IT bands (the muscles/tendons that stabilize the knee).

Celebrating...going part-time at work. Even though I have to work 4 days this week because my boss was unable to clear today off my schedule, I will be off Tuesday and Wednesday and then have the weekend off! I am so excited about having more time to spend at home and with Colton and Leah.

Grateful...that as the cold/virus that has been at the nursing home since before Christmas moves into the dementia unit, I am, so far, still avoiding it. A small miracle since the residents are always coughing or sneezing on me.

Weather...COLD. The temperature this morning is 15 degrees with the windchill making it feel like 9 degrees. It's going to stay cold today and be really cold again tonight before beginning a bit of a warm up...nearly 50 on Friday...and a run of sunny days. It's supposed to start raining on Saturday and cool us back into the 30's on Sunday. Still not all that bad for January in the mountains of southwestern PA. All of the storms, so far, have seemed to go right around us this year.

Enjoying...my new Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer. It makes straightening my hair so easy. It does such a good job of drying it straight, that it doesn't take long with the straightening iron at all. It's a game changer!

A thought to share...

  1. OhhhhhhhhhhhI can't wait to see the art work you bought. I envy you, having curly hair. I have straight, thin hair that is hard to do anything with, sigh, smiles. I hope you have a great day! P.S. Want snow? We have plenty here in western NY, I could share, LOLOL.

  2. That artwork sounds great. Sure wish I could go part-time at work. I am glad it is working out for you. Have a good one. I haven't forgotten to share my adoption and finding my birth family story as I told you I would. I am not thinking about doing a blog post about it. Just haven't had time. Have a great week!

    1. I love the picture. It's nothing spectacular. I bought it in the At Home store, but it's bright and colorful and happy to look at.

  4. If you have inflamed IT bands you can get a body roller for like $20. You lay on your side and roll up and down - it is super painful to do it but after you will feel AMAZING!!!! That dryer sounds awesome!!! I may be trying that when mine breaks next time! Have a great week Stacy!

    1. I have a roller, but I haven't been exercising for a long time because of the pain...I don't know if I have the oomph to do that, but I guess all I can do is give it a try.

The dryer really is amazing! It also dries my hair fairly quick which is a huge bonus to me. I hate fussing with my hair.

    1. You, who worked in an art museum, might be a bit disappointed in my new art. It's the commercial stuff they crank out by the ton. I bought it in the At Home store. But I like the colors and it's a happy picture that makes me happy to look at.

  6. I will have to look into that hair dryer. I worked part time for years and loved it. Now I am retired and busy than ever!

    1. I think you will like the hair dryer if you get it. And yes, I suspect I will find myself busier than ever, too. I'm sure my daughter will put me to work babysitting fairly often and as the kids get older, I hope they will come next-door on their own.

  7. I am so happy for you, that you were able to go to part-time. Besides getting away from a difficult work situation, you have the added bonus of having more time to devote to the people and things you want.

Oh, 70's music! Every time I get in the car, I put on the station that plays 70's and 80's songs. The late 70's stuff takes me back to high school. It's funny, you can hear a song and be transported back to another time and place!

    Blessings to you,
    Patti

    1. Thanks, Patti! Today is the first day that actually feels like I'm part-time. My status began over the weekend, which was my one to work, and then I had to work yesterday because my boss couldn't get that one covered. So, I'm actually working an extra day this week, but I am off today and tomorrow, work Thursday and Friday, then have Saturday, Sunday, and Monday off before working again. I think I'm going to like this!

I am the same way about music. I hear songs and *boom* I am right back at a specific time or place.

      Have a blessed week!
