Currently 10 On Tuesday

I'm a sneaky one...I figured out there are 10 items in my Currently posts so I'm doing a two-fer post.

Currently, I am...

Reading...Creating Moments of Joy Along the Alzheimer's Journey: A Guide for Families and Caregivers.  My supervisor in the dementia unit suggested it and it's very good. It's one of the best and most practical books to help you through and do more than just survive the journey.

Listening to...the Poodle snoring softly beside me.

Loving...that my Bible study group is finally meeting again. It's been 3 or 4 weeks for them and a couple of weeks longer for me.

Thinking...about this business with Iran and hoping we don't end up at war. War is not the same as it used to be. We used to be sort of isolated and protected over here on this side of the world, but times have changed. The Ayatollah wants American blood. Life as we know could change.

Feeling...happy, content, blessed...pretty darn joyful, actually.

Celebrating...my growing relationship with my biological father.

Grateful for...the way God never fails me.

Weather...cloudy and close to 40 degrees. (*UPDATE* Yeah, that was what they said last night. The reality is 33 degrees and snow. We might see a couple of inches by supper.)

Enjoying...my Kindle. I finally broke down and got one over the weekend. Amazon made me an offer I couldn't refuse...and at this point I figured my NOOK is so out of date it would take a year of updates to get it working even sort of correctly.

A quote I want to share...

  1. I love my Kindle Fire, especially all the free books on there and on bookbub! I have read the Alzheimer book and also liked it. 💖

    1. I got a Paperwhite. I forgot about Bookbub! I'll have to check that out again. The free books I looked at the other day look to be of the questionable value type (poorly written or bordering on porn) just like Barnes & Noble's free ones. I did choose to get a Kindle, though, because they seem to at least offer books you'd actually want once in a while. Mostly I just want it to get the "fluff" stuff I read while on my breaks at work and misc. things that maybe I want to read once, but don't want to have a copy of on the shelves.

  2. My mom passed from Alzheimers. We were able to keep her in her home though it was a lot on my dad. We all helped as much as we could. I am praying for our country but things don't look good. God help us and all our men in service. I had a Kindle, but it has been taken over by my grand kids. I prefer reading paper books, especially my Bible. Have a great week!

    1. I am glad your family was able to do that. It is a tough, tough journey. I've not experienced it in my own family, but I work with it daily. The book is giving me some insight into what the families deal with and I'm picking up a lot of good tips that I can use as well...and finding that I'm already doing a lot of what it recommends. I prefer real books, too, but space to keep them all is an issue. I have 6 bookcases full, plus stacks all over the place....and among those books are at least 10 Bibles!

  4. We are caregivers /court approved for my mother in-law and her husband. My mother in-law has dementia and mental illness and many health problems and her husband (not my husbands father) is a severe epilepsy and many other issues as well. It is very emotionally draining. I simply don't know how you do it, Stacy or any nurse...just keeping it real. I hope I don't sound shallow/uncaring, because I really don't mean to be.

As for Iran, I do not believe there will be war and I will leave it at that, smiles.

I always enjoy your posts, thank you for sharing. smiles

    1. Being the primary caregiver is a VERY tough job. The book I'm reading might have some tips you and your husband can use. I'm not through it yet, but so far there are tips on how to deal with the person themselves in certain circumstances, how to deal with family who don't help or think they know more or tell you that you're doing it wrong. It also hits on some of the legal things. It may not be helpful, but then again it might.

  5. Enjoyed reading all your answers....always praying for peace. I don't know what's going to happen, just holding on to God's hand and living day by day as He provides.

    1. Yes, ma'am. That is all we can do. No matter what happens it's part of His plan and He will see us through.

  7. Welcome to the world of Kindle!!!
Yeah, this whole Iran thing scares me... people are everywhere & anything could happen. Makes me very anxious.
Our Bible study group starts back tomorrow & I'm looking forward to it as well

    1. Exactly. I won't live in fear because I know God is in control no matter what does or doesn't happen, but terrorism is a scary thing.

  8. I am on my 4th Kindle/2nd Kindle Fire. Love my Fire! Amazon made us a deal too and Joe also got a new 10" Fire. I'm a bit anxious because our son is 'over there'. Hoping his location is safe. Our Sunday School is a Bible Study and that works great for us!

    1. I got a little Paperwhite. I wanted to be able to tuck it into my purse easily and not have it weigh a ton. I love how much lighter it is than my old NOOK. Oh gosh...I will be praying for your son!
