Thankful Thursday

Hey all, I'm getting around to posting a little late today. It's actually my day off, which is unusual for a Thursday, but I've been battling a cold all week, slept in this morning, and no sooner was I up and moving than I got a call to go babysit little Leah while her mommy got some blood work done. Then I decided to hit the thrift shops and about the time I got home our daughter and the kids came over for a bit. It's all good...and more fun than catching up on chores.

So, I'm linking up with sweet Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand for Thankful Thursday. Please stop over and check out her list and find the links to others who are linked up.

This week I am thankful...

** this stupid cold is finally beginning to let up. I know I caught it at work. It started with the residents and the staff is coming down with it now. Add to it the fact that weather conditions have ramped up the fall allergy factor. Put the allergies on top of the cold and it has not been a fun week.

** to have (most of) my family nearby. As in right next-door. It's good to know they are there when you need them and to be there for them when they need you.

** our nephew celebrated 4 years of sobriety yesterday. So proud of him and the man, husband, and father he's become.

** Tim's oldest sister is doing well after having to have her heart "shocked" out of A-fib for the second time in a little over a week.

** we had a great time babysitting Colton and Leah this past weekend. They were so good and no trouble at all. I'm also pretty thankful Colton wasn't permanently scarred by his Nanny's great idea to take him into the parakeet encounter at the zoo. He was excited until we walked into the enclosure and 167 parakeets landed on us, then he freaked. He hasn't mentioned it again so I guess he's okay.

** for my job and the opportunity to spend time with the residents. I know I'm supposed to be making their lives a little better and maybe I am, but they sure add a lot to mine. I enjoy talking to them and hearing their stories. Some of them have led pretty incredible lives and all of them are interesting.

** and as always, for each one of you!

  2. I wish more caregivers felt the same way about their patients. So many stories, so few listening ears.
