We've rolled around to Thankful Thursday again. It happens in the blink of an eye, doesn't it? I wonder if God makes it seem that way so we can be mindful of all He blesses us with and be encouraged in this crazy world? Well, whatever the reason...God's goodness or my own warped perception of time as I age...I'm linking with sweet blogger Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand to show my gratitude for life's blessings, both big and small.
This week I am thankful...
** last week's infected nose is a distant memory. I still have 2 doses of antibiotics to take, but all of the swelling and pain disappeared after the first 3 days and there doesn't seem to be any visible evidence. Yea!
** for a really good Bible study class and that we are coming to the end of this current study of Revelation. It was supposed to be a short survey for a couple of new members so they would have an understanding of some things we were talking about. A few long-time members are rather enamored of and focused on end-times prophecy and while it's good to know what Revelation talks about and be prepared, I don't think we are to dwell on it exclusively. The Lord gave us 65 more books in the Bible for a reason. I am glad we will soon be going back to one of those. I don't know about anyone else, but I need lots of teaching on how I'm supposed to live this life until Jesus comes back.
** for last night's rain that brought the temperatures down a bit. Yesterday was seriously HOT...90 degrees and humid. Blech! That's not supposed to be September weather!
** for all the 9-11 tributes I saw yesterday. Sometimes it feels like people are forgetting just what it meant to us as a nation, but all those tributes gave me hope. (Do you realize that this year's high school seniors were either tiny babies or not even born yet?)
** for Sunday afternoon with our grandson. We made some Pillsbury Halloween cookies and watched The Secret Life of Pets 2. The movie is so cute and funny and we had a good time laughing at it together. Then our little man went outside to help his Pappy work. He is so proud when he does that. He loves being one of the guys. ❤
** good health reports coming from all my blogging friends. Prayers continue for all their needs and healing.
** that there is at least a possibility that I will be able to move into working in the dementia unit full time. The daylight girl that I cover for is really not happy lately and is looking for something else. Yesterday she asked me what I would do if she left and I said I'd bid (and there isn't anyone with more seniority that would want it) on her position. I'm not giving up on finding something else someday, but in the meantime, it would be awesome to know for sure what I'm doing everyday...and to be off my psycho boss's radar (for the most part).
** that the Steelers were smart enough to cut Antonio Brown loose before the season began. That said, it makes me sad to see a young man, who has (had) the world by the tail, allow all the attention and fame go to his head and cause him to behave badly. I hope he finds his way back before he loses everything.
** a very long letter from my newly discovered half-sister. I smiled and laughed through the entire thing. We seem to have so much in common! I find I'm feeling a lot better about this whole instant family thing. đ
** as always, for each one of you!
Hope you and sister enjoy each other!!! Amazing! Not sure of the story as am new to the blog but enjoy reading!!!
ReplyDelete90 degrees in PA? Ooooh, that's just wrong. :)
ReplyDeleteI, too, was reassured by the yesterday's tributes and outpouring of sentiment. 18 years seems like yesterday.
Fingers crossed for your possible reassignment!
How interesting that you have discovered a half sister!
ReplyDeleteAnd it sounds as if you had a great week. Thanks for sharing the joy.
My husband shares your thoughts about Antonio Brown. Halloween cookies with your grandson sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well on the antibiotics - they tear me up!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe had that conversation yesterday about all the kids that werent born - & even college age kids who were so young, they cant remember it. Crazy to thing. It all feels so much like yesterday to me. It will forever stick with us that lived through it, wont it!
It's been in the 90's all week - nearly 100 today - WHERE IS FALL????
Hope things work out at your job like you want. How fun to find out your have a sister.
ReplyDelete59*, breezy and overcast here today in western NY--no worried expecting 80's next week. That's life in the great north, smiles.
ReplyDeleteYou know what I found in the grocery cart when we got home yesterday? A roll of Halloween and Choco. chip cookies. My husband, "They must of jumped in." Hmm...yeah...right. (rolling eyes, lol)---apparently I wasn't paying attention.
