Linking up with Terri @ Your Friend From Florida for the Wednesday Medley and to celebrate....cheese!
1. National Cheese Day is Tuesday, rather than Wednesday, but I think we should celebrate cheese this week!! Let's start by sharing your favorite cheese with us. Which one is always in your fridge? Uh, we're pretty big on cheese around here. You will nearly always find American, Swiss, and cheddar-jack slices plus bags of shredded Italian blend, cheddar or cheddar-jack, and either mozzarella or Queso blanco.
2. What is your preference? Mild, Sharp, or Extra Sharp? How do you use cheese most often? We like mild to sharp, but not usually the extra sharp. We put it on sandwiches and salads, eat it with crackers or fruit, sprinkle it on homemade pizza, stir it into casseroles, stir it into eggs or omelets, melt it on nachos....
3. Cheesecake? New York style or what other flavors would you rather have? I love cheesecake! It's my favorite "pie." I like the plain with any fruit topping, chocolate, and caramel.
4. When you do grilled cheese sandwiches, which cheese do you prefer to use and what condiments do you use, if any? I like to make grilled cheese sandwiches with mozzarella or provolone, a nice slice of tomato, and when I butter the bread I also sprinkle it with garlic powder and basil.
5. Number 5 on June 5th... Say happy birthday to my sister, Tammy!! Happy birthday, Tammy! I wish you a wonderful day and a blessed year ahead!
6. Share something with us about your week. If it includes using cheese in a recipe, please also share that with us too!! Mom and my stepdad left for Florida this morning. John had prostate cancer several years ago and at the time he refused traditional treatment. Someone told him about proton therapy...a type of radiation that targets only the cancer rather than a wide-spread area. Back then it was only available in a few places in the whole country. One of them was in Jacksonville, FL. Ever since, he has to go back each year for a checkup. I've lost track, but I'm sure it's been at least 7 or 8 years and he has gotten the "all clear" every year. We are firm believers in this type of treatment, which came out of Los Alamos. It is also available in many locations at this time. Praying John gets a good report this time, too!
Sorry, no cheese recipes were used so far this week.
Prayers for John... and best wishes for you this week..
ReplyDeleteYour grilled cheese sandwich sounds very good. The combination of mozzarella with tomatoes sounds super good. Praying your stepdad will get good news again this year. That treatment sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIt is very good and the sprinkle of garlic and basil adds just the right touch. Thanks for the prayers!
DeleteYour version of a grilled chees sandwich sounds really good! I just know your step dad will another good report!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good thoughts and you should try the sandwich, it's delish!
DeletePrayers lifted for your dad's next "all clear"! I wonder why that proton therapy hasn't been accepted more widely. My Tom had a dickens of a time with the simultaneous chemo and radiation.
ReplyDeleteI don't know. It's getting there. They have more centers now than they used to, including one in Philadelphia. I don't know if they are all the same way, but when Mom and John had to go to Jacksonville for his treatments and had to stay over a month, the center had apartments for patients to rent, they could take their dog, and every day there were outings arranged through the center. The patients and their families all got to know each other very well. It sure seems like a great way to treat people, but I know it isn't for every cancer or every person. You have to go for an evaluation first...if your insurance will pay for the treatments.
DeleteSending good thoughts for John.
ReplyDeleteLove your idea for a grilled cheese sandwich. I may try it.
Praying with you for a good report!!!!
ReplyDeleteOH GIRL - we got a Chocolate cheesecake frozen in the grocery form The Cheesecake Factory - OH MY WORD - the best thing I've ever had!
I feel so deprived. I've never had Cheesecake Factory cheesecake! There was one in Pittsburgh, but I think I heard it closed or is going to close.
DeletePrayers for a good report on John! Loved your answers! Have a nice week!
