Thankful Thursday

Life is messing with me this morning. I had my Thankful Thursday post nearly done and then....*poof*….it was gone. How annoying is that?! Anyway, I had shared a story about how time moves more quickly the older you get, but now I don't have time to rewrite the whole thing before I head out to work. Maybe next week.

Anyway, I'm slightly annoyed, but I still know I'm blessed and I won't let that annoyance steal my joy. Life is too short for that!

Joining the sweet, funny, creative, and always inspirational Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand to share the ways God has blessed us this past week.

This week I am thankful...

* for making it through April Fool's Day without having a single prank played on me.

* for my faith in God's promises that gives me the strength to make it through each day at work. There are several residents in the dementia unit who are rapidly declining right now. So hard to watch...both the residents and their poor families.

* for my Bible study group. On Tuesday we met to end a week of fasting and prayer for each other that was spurred by some major things happening in the lives of some members. Many were new to fasting so it was an incredible night of everyone sharing what happened to them during the week, how the Lord blessed them, and how several prayers were clearly answered. We also enjoyed a deliciously yummy meal of creamy, homemade potato soup, fresh baked wheat bread and spinach/feta bread, plus lemon and coconut pies.

* my doctor agreed to put me back on Adipex-P. I lost 30 pounds the first time I went on it. I have managed to keep most of that off, but the last month or so of eating winter comfort foods has seen 2 or 3 pounds creep back on and I don't want it to go any further. Plus, it would be nice if I could lose another big chunk of weight. I'm so glad I am a candidate for the Adipex. Many I know asked their doctors about it when they saw how well I did, but they were turned down for health reasons.

* that the warmer temperatures are coming more and more often and we are going to see temperatures in the 70s this weekend. Not much sunshine, but that's okay.

* that I finally picked up Fredrik Backman's follow up book to Beartown, Us Against You. His stories are not always happy, but they are incredibly crafted examinations of the human condition. He works with words the way Michelangelo worked with paint. Reading his books is such a rich experience.

* for Marie Callender's ginger beef and broccoli bowls. They are so good and I've been eating them for lunch nearly every day at work. There are other flavors, but I don't like them as much. For $2.50, they are a great lunch. It's a secret a lot of people must be in on because Walmart is nearly always either sold out of them or only has 2 or 3 left on the shelf.

* for all of you, just like always!

That's it for me today. I'm out of time and have to head to work. Have a great day and keep your eyes open for all God's blessings, big and small!

    1. You're welcome! They are yummy and the calorie count isn't too bad. The sodium might be another story.

  2. I hate when my posts do that... I usually just walk away before I throw a computer.
I too made it through April Fools Day non-pranked & felt pretty proud of myself.
Good for you all making it through your prayful fast & topping it off with yummy food together!!!

    1. I was afraid I'd have to walk away and finish tonight, but I squeaked out a new one just in time to shut off the computer and head out the door!

    1. Investigoogle. I love that! You should recommend that one when they are looking for new words for the dictionary.

    1. You may like some of his other books better. The Beartown books are about hockey, hockey players, hockey culture...and the language gets pretty rough in them.

  5. I will have to look for that Ginger Beef & Broccoli Bowl. Sounds really good! I wish I could take Adipex but can't because of my heart meds. The doctor I work for does a lot of weight loss patients and most of them get Adipex. Keep us posted, Stacy, on your progress!

    1. It's good to hear it's commonly used down there because it seems to not be so common up here.
