Thankful Thursday

Good morning! It's my day off and I'm linking up with the sweet Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand for Thankful Thursday...that time we get to share all the good things God has blessed us with (well, some of them) in the last week.

Don't you just love that little guy in the picture? I can't even look at him and not smile.

There is much I should get done today, so on with the thankfulness!

This week I am thankful...

* Tim and I had a nice weekend together. We were both off work last weekend and the weather was warm and sunny. We took care of appointments first thing Saturday morning and then were supposed to spend the day working on the bathroom, but it was sooooo nice outside. We played hooky and went to the flea market and met up with friends for lunch. On Sunday we worked on the bathroom a little, but mostly did household chores and relaxed. Our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson came over to visit in the evening.

* Tim finally got his blood work done for the rheumatologist. It had only been 2 or 3 weeks since he'd seen her and while he did try to stop a couple of times, only to find the lab closed, he'd mostly not been trying to get it done. If he doesn't hear from her by the middle of next week he will give her a call to see what it showed.

* for peeks of Spring. A warm day here and there. A little sunshine. Waking up to the birds singing outside.

* that counting ahead on the calendar shows Easter weekend is my scheduled weekend off. They usually don't mess with our weekends. I'm hoping that holds true. It will be my first holiday off since starting to work at the nursing home.

* I'm also off the weekend of the home's big Easter egg hunt so I can take Colton. How fun!

* for everyone's prayers for one of the dementia residents. They've put him under hospice care now. He isn't eating and yesterday the decision was made to stop all meds except those that keep him comfortable. Barring a miracle, it's a matter of time. It's been touching to watch how devoted his wife of 68 years is. She just got cleared to drive following a knee replacement surgery and is there all day. She is, of course, sad, but at the same time very positive about where he is going and they have both been surrounded and supported by lots of family, friends, and their church family. What a testament to the kind of man he was!

* for the Calm app. I heard about it on Good Morning America and downloaded it. I've been using it at work the nights I am there late. There are stories read by celebrities, nature sounds, music, meditations, etc. They are all supposed to be scientifically formulated to relax and calm and they do seem to work for some of the dementia residents. I need to get some headphones and try it on myself on those restless nights.

* we turned the clocks ahead. I love having more daylight when I get home from work. It energizes me!

* for my God and my relationship with Him.

* for each one of you, who takes the time to visit, comment, and bless my day!
