Thankful Thursday

Linking up today with sweet blogging buddy, Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand for Thankful Thursday. It's time to share some of the blessings God has surprised me with this week.

This week I am thankful...

* the "big" winter storm that was supposed to cripple our area last weekend was kind of a washout. Bitter cold? We had it. Snow? Just a little. Ice? That we had, but not so bad as to shut everything down.

* I had an interview for a job on Tuesday. I think it went well, but it was kind of different. The woman who was supposed to interview me had to leave so she asked another supervisor from another county to interview me by phone. He said I was obviously qualified or they wouldn't have called me in for an interview, but the decision is up to the woman who didn't interview me. He said he'd tell her how it went. So...it's a waiting game.

* Tim put together the little utility cart I had ordered to keep all my planner and art supplies on. That thing had about a million pieces and I had been putting it off. It was so nice to get home from work on Sunday and find it done.

* for my big, warm afghan...found brand new at a church rummage sale for $2. I loved it on sight because it reminds me of stained-glass windows. I'm including a picture for Kathy @ Looking At Life Through My Bifocals, who is working on an afghan that she is trying to make look like stained-glass.

* work has gone great this week! They are training a new girl and she seems like a good fit. She tells me she is going to be full-time 12-8 in the dementia unit...I guess management has changed their mind about having several of us rotate through. Maybe because it's proved so hard to hire and keep people. Also, my boss has seemed..."nice." Usually, I feel like she is hovering just waiting for me to do something she views as wrong so she can jump all over me, but she's been very nice and appreciative. That makes a big difference. If I get the other job, I will (almost) feel bad.

* Mom has bronchitis again, but after fighting it for months last winter, her doctor started her right on the course of meds that finally defeated it.

* the trip insurance Mom and John bought for their cruise is apparently going to cover the $3000 charge for John going to the ship's infirmary for walking
pneumonia.

* for my faith in God every time I watch the news. I don't know how anyone can make it through this world without Him. When you see all the garbage going on in the world it can be overwhelming unless you know that God is in control and things will ultimately work out to His purposes. What a blessing it is to know this life is only temporary. My hope lies in Him and the promise of an eternity lived with Him.

* that it's finally Thursday and time for the next episode of A Million Little Things. I am about to die of curiosity wondering what John's big secret was!!

* as always for each one of you who takes the time to visit and comment.

Have a blessed and beautiful Thursday my friends!

  1. $2 for that gorgeous afghan?! What a super steal! … and what a testimonial for purchasing trip insurance! I'm glad to hear your boss seems to be lightening up, but praying you'll be called back for a second interview with the real decision-maker.

    1. Yep, $2. It was on a table with no price so I asked a lady working there and when she said $2, I said SOLD!! As for the trip insurance, for real. I usually pass on it, but don't think that will be the case ever again. Thanks for the prayers. Haven't heard anything yet, but comments on Indeed said it takes about 2 weeks to hear back.

  2. Seriously what a great deal on the afghan!!! I have my fingers crossed for your interview - what a pain that the decision maker could not be there for it though! Good luck! Have a great week!

    1. Thanks, Ann. Comments on Indeed said they take a couple of weeks to let you know so I'm still hoping.

  3. I just said that to Ricky last night watching the news... how its just full of depressing things & people plum loosing their minds. WE ALL NEED JESUS about now!!!!!!
That is a strange interview. Still praying it all works out well for you!!!!
That's such a relief that insurance is covering that bill. Makes you want to not dismiss insurance so easily on trips now.
$2.00???? As a knitter/crocheter, I see all the work in that - heck, one square isn't even $2.00 of yarn - you got a bargain!!! I'm just happy its getting loved on. So much work goes into a project like that so its nice to see it get used. It's so beautiful too!!!
Can you have your husband come build my shelf I've had for 3 years that's still sitting in a box... grrrr

    1. The shelf is a fluke. It's been nearly 2 1/2 years on the bathroom remodel and it's still not done. Sigh. Grrrr. And several other emotions.
Oh, I know the afghan was a steal. It didn't have a price on it and when I asked and they said $2, I snapped it up before they changed their minds.
Thanks for the prayers. Still hoping on the job since comments on Indeed said it takes 2 weeks for them to get back to you.

  5. Hi Stacy, I was A Million Little Things too! I have one of those carts too and I keep it next to my desk. I am doing daily scripture writing on my planner. I also do Bible journalig and belong to a Facebook group called Illustrated Faith. I am also doing one of their devotionals and have lost of pictures of recent pages at my blog. Thank goodness for insurance! I bed the dementia ward would be hard. My mom passed from Alzheimers.

    1. A Million Little Things is killing me! They are really doling out John's secret one tiny little bit at a time. Ugh. Last night didn't clear up much at all. I have a journaling Bible, but I'm not terribly good at lettering and drawing so I haven't done much with it. I haven't heard of Illustrated Faith. I will have to check it out and I'm heading to your blog right now. Yes, the dementia ward can be hard. I love the residents, but sometimes it is like all the behaviors are in motion at the same time and it is overwhelming. I am glad I am only in there 3 days per week. I need the break for my own sanity.

  6. Nice afghan! My mom used to make those squares and put them together for afghans. I can't believe you got it for $2.00. One skein of yarn costs more than that. Wow! Fingers crossed for that job! Nice surprise for Tim to put your cart together! I enjoyed your list full of blessings!
