Saturday 9: Call Me (1966)

It's Saturday so I'm linking up with Sam and the rest of the gang at the Saturday 9 for a fun musical meme.

Call Me (1966)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.

1) Chris Montez sings that you can always call him, regardless of the hour. Do you believe that it's ever too late to phone someone?

For an emergency, no. Just to chat, heck yes! Take the sleep habits of the person you are calling into consideration. Don't call someone who has to get up early for work late in the evening. As a general rule, don't call the elderly late EVER (except in the fore-mentioned emergency). Personally, I don't usually call anyone (even the night owls) after 9:00 because a lot of people just want to relax with their families in the evenings.

2) He insists that you can depend on him, even when your friends desert you. Who is someone you can trust to have your back, no matter what?

My husband and everyone in my Bible study group.

3) Billy Crystal serenades Meg Ryan -- via answering machine -- with "Call Me" in When Harry Met Sally. Answering machines have been replaced by voice mail. Who most recently left you a voice mail?

I'm not sure...either my mom or the dentist's office. Usually it's only businesses, political campaigns, scammers, or telemarketers that leave voice mail. Most everyone else just sends a text. My mom's the exception.

4) Chris Montez is a graduate of El Camino College in Torrance, California. The average daytime temperature in November in Torrance is 70º. How is the weather where you are today?

Gray and 50 degrees. It's supposed to pour buckets later on.

5) Today Chris actively promotes a healthy lifestyle to children. He was honored for his efforts by the group SOPA (Stop Obesity, Promote Activity). Do you believe you get enough exercise?

Probably not even though my job has me on my feet and moving all day. I'm sure I do 10000 steps a day without even trying. Some days I'm sure I do way more than that. I really should dig out the Fitbit and find out.

6) Released in late 1965, "Call Me" became a big hit in 1966, reaching #2 on the charts. Even though it sold millions of copies and was certified as a Gold Record, it never hit #1. Is winning, or being the best, important to you?

Other than doing my best at something, no, winning or being the best doesn't really matter to me. It's nice when it happens, but I don't seek it.

7) In 1966, when this was playing on juke boxes, kids were watching Batman and Star Trek. If you had your choice of watching an episode right now, which would you choose: Star Trek or Batman?

8) Also in 1966, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay was born. Do you enjoy cooking?

Yes, but I hate thinking up what to have for dinner every day.  I'm a terrible menu planner.

9) Random question -- You have the opportunity to perform in the circus! Would you rather be shot from a cannon, or put your head in the lion's mouth?

Here kitty, kitty!

  1. One time when I was up and on Facebook at 3 AM I left a comment on my cousin's page and she called me at 3 AM.

    1. Well, since you commented she knew you were up. That's acceptable. LOL I'd not be too gracious to someone who called me out of the blue at 3 AM. In fact, I'd be pretty grumpy unless they were having a medical emergency.

  2. I bet you do get a lot of steps in during a day! Your job demands it.
I pick the lion also...here is my thinking. I figure they are trained...and I am scared if heights, so being shot out of a cannon does not sound good to me. I also love animals. Loved your answers! Have a great weekend!

    1. I don't know where that one is at. I stole the picture from a Google search. I think they must have been a big thing at one time. I know of at least 2 that were here in PA when I was a kid.

  6. The temp today is 28 degrees (which I thought was balmy) and we're supposed to get hammered with another storm tomorrow. I need to move closer to where you are (my sister lives in Lancaster).

    1. I would tell you the weather in Lancaster is milder than it is here, but that's not necessarily the case these days. Those northeasters seem to be dumping more snow on them than us the majority of the time. The weather patterns have changed.

  7. We had summer like weather today, most confusing since it's the first weekend of December. Fun questions today. Happy weekend!

  8. Different questions and I enjoyed the way you answered them, Stacy! We both picked "here kitty kitty" LOL. Get that Fitbit out! It would be interesting to know how many steps you take in a day at your new job!
