Saturday 9: Teenage Dream

Doing this quickly before bed on Friday night because tomorrow I start my first working weekend in years.

Thanks to Sam for bringing us the music and the fun questions week after week. If you like what you read, please join in the fun by visiting the Saturday 9 site.

Saturday 9: Teenage Dream (2010)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) Much of the video for this week's song takes place in a convertible and on the beach. How's the weather where you are? Would you be comfortable riding around with the top down today?
It was mostly overcast today, but the sun popped out for a few minutes every now and then. It was humid as all get out, though, so I'd have rather had the top up and the air on!

2) This video was filmed all around Katy Perry's hometown of Santa Barbara. Amtrak runs through Santa Barbara via The Pacific Surfliner. Tell us about a memorable train trip.
My mom tells me I rode on the train with her to Philadelphia as a baby/toddler, but I don't remember it. There haven't been any other train trips unless you want to count the Christmas train at the mall.

3) Katy sings that her boyfriend thinks she's funny, even when she gets the punchline wrong. Do you think you're a better joke-teller or audience? I'm a way better audience. I don't have the comedic timing to be a good joke-teller.

4) Her "teenage dream" lover is shown working out with a heavy bag. When is the last time you visited a gym? It's been a few years, but hey, I'm leading the residents at the nursing home in exercises 5 days a week so that sort of counts.

5) Katy changes her hair a lot. She's gone from long black hair to cropped blonde hair with stops at red, green and purple. Today, are you having a good hair day? I am actually having an excellent hair day. I ordered a different kind of Deva Curl gel this time and I loooooove it! It held my super curly hair all day and no frizz! Even in this humidity!

6) Katy thinks dimples are "irresistible" and can't help poking a finger when a dimpled friend smiles. Do you have dimples? I did when I was younger and skinnier. Maybe they're still in there.
7) Two of Katy's fragrances (Meow and Purr) are sold in cat-shaped bottles. Are you wearing a scent as you answer these questions?  If it hasn't worn off since this morning I'm wearing Winter Candy Apple body spray from Bath & Body Works.
8)  Katy's favorite dessert is ice cream (specifically Cold Stone Creamery's Birthday Cake Remix). What's the last dessert you ate? I had a mini pumpkin gob at lunch.
9) Random question: How often do you change your bedsheets?  Weekly. Unless it's hot and we're sweaty in the night...or the dog tosses her cookies on the bed...or there's a diaper changing disaster with the grandbaby. I miss hanging the sheets out on the line to dry. There was nothing like clean sheet day with line-dried sheets.

  1. Another fun Saturday 9! Sorry you are working this weekend but I know you are loving your new job! I haven't used Deva Curl for a few years. Need to check out your link! Thanks for that!

    1. You're welcome. I used Arc Angel gel instead of the ultra defining gel. It's softer and smells citrus-y and it seems to moisturize my hair a lot better. I'm on day two of the curls and the other gel hadn't been holding my hair.

    1. I loved it so I bought several bottles last Christmas. I hope they bring it and the other holiday one I bought back this year.

  3. The bath and body works scent sounds amazing! I have BBW coupons to redeem... maybe I'll go for that! Which Deva Curl product did you get that you liked? I have to get some new stuff for my daughter with the ringlets, and she's not as motivated to keep her hair looking good as I wish she was!

    1. I got Arc Angel gel. It smells sort of citrus-y and seems to actually moisturize my hair a bit. It's held my curls for 2 days now. Your daughter might like it. All I did this morning was spritz it a bit and fluff it up touching it as little as I could and it looked pretty good.

  4. LOVE the Christmas train! My local mall has a kiddie train all year around. I always thought that would be a great job, providing the kids with some release from the dreary business of shopping with the adults. Now, though, with Toys R Us and BonTon closing, I worry that the train won't be around much longer. :(

    1. I kind of wonder about ours, too. We lost our BonTon and the rumor is that a casino is going in its place. Not really kid friendly.

  5. I checked your link ,yes the Deva Curl Arc Angel gel is supposed to be awesome. I haven't tried it because of the price. Maybe I should. It is super humid here too! I will pass on the top down also. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend!

    1. I would definitely give it a try, Lori. I don't use any other Deva Curl products because of the cost, but the gels are worth the splurge. Trust me on that.

  6. That's great what you are doing at the nursing home.

  7. I'm intrigued what sort of exercises you're leading, Stacy? Suppose they remember the Village People? I still crack myself up remembering what our "seniors aqua-cize/stretching" class looked like when the instructor played "YMCA"!

    1. Bahahahaha! YMCA. I wish!!! That's too ambitious for the dementia crowd we currently have. I'm not kidding when I say they are low functioning. A few can walk around, but most can't and the ones that can talk don't make any sense and they can't understand what we tell them. The exercises aren't all that hard. Do you remember the Sit & Be Fit exercise show on PBS? That's pretty much what we do and if I can get them to lift a leg or an arm that's what they do until we're done. Just the one thing. The only thing that wakes a few of them up and that they are surprisingly good at is "volleyball" and "kickball" played with balloons. They love that and it seems to be a skill that hangs in there when others have gone.

  8. I hate that my B&BW fragrance wears off so quickly--I'm into Beautiful Day.

    1. I have that one, too. Well, had. I've used it up. It's about the only one I like that's a floral. I usually stick to the foody ones.

  9. You're working! I'm glad for you and sorry at the same time.

  10. Hi Stacy!!!! I am with you in that I would love to change sheets weekly but I usually find kitty hair balls and barf somewhere on the bed at least once a week and these pre-menopausal sweats I am struggling with are no joke!!! Ugh! Have a great week! Hugs!
