Welcome to Sunday Stealing! This from our hostess, Bev:
Bah Humbug! Before we get all warm and cozy for the upcoming holidays, here's a chance to let out all those angry feelings you've been harboring. I copied this a long time ago and don't remember where I stole it from.
TV show I loathe: Two and a Half Men. It was sort of clever in the beginning, but the longer it went on, the more it sounded like it was written by a couple of 14 year old boys.
Movie I loathe: Blackhawk Down. I went to school with a young man who died in that incident. It's just very, very hard to watch.
Music genres I loathe: Death metal, opera, rap that is disrespectful of women or police.
Magazine which annoys me: Pretty much all of them. Ten or twelve dollars for a magazine? C'mon!
Makes me cranky at restaurant: A server who neglects my table because he/she is too busy carrying on/flirting with another party or is too busy chatting with coworkers to ever check back.
Makes me cranky in public: I can't think of anything in particular.
Makes me impatient at home: OMG....my husband with the remote. He will spend an hour scrolling through all the program/movie choices without getting around to picking one.
Makes me impatient at work: Drivers who cut me off because they are too important to get behind a school bus...then drive 15 miles per hour below the speed limit. I'm on a schedule, people!!!
Celebrity I hate: I don't hate any of them, but I get annoyed with those who believe their own press about how great they are and start spouting off as know-it-alls when they really don't know jack. Or they use their celebrity to stir division.
Music artist I hate: Same answer as above.
I couldn't care less about: I fixed that to mean I could not possibly care any less about...and some of you might want to sit down for this...the Royal Family. I know, I know. Sorry to those of you who love them.
Blogger's habit that annoys you: I wish more bloggers responded to comments, but that doesn't exactly annoy me. Um, I guess maybe all the ads some put on their blogs. I hate when I have to wait 10 minutes for all the garbage to load or worse, when it gums up my laptop and it freezes.
Feature on your blog you hate: I can't think of anything.
Politician that you hate: Many annoy me, I may not agree with their policies or personal behavior, but I don't hate them. Hate only hurts the one doing the hating...and turns into bitterness if you're not careful.
The price of magazines is crazy in today's world. However, I still subscribe to Reader's Digest.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? They cost more and more and get thinner and thinner. I used to love Reader's Digest, but haven't picked one up in years. No real reason...just haven't.
DeleteInteresting about your comment on the Royal Family. though they fascinate me, I don't find them relevant.
ReplyDeleteNo, I'd agree they aren't relevant. I don't have anything against them. I just don't get into watching any celebrities.
DeleteI changed the words "loathe" and "hate" on my blog because I don't really have those emotions toward many things or people. They're very strong words. I see you felt the same way. I have given up all of my magazine subscriptions except Reader's Digest, which I just realized I haven't seen in a while. I need to see if I am still getting it!
ReplyDeleteI don't subscribe to any magazines these days...just pick up the odd one that catches my eye and that is usually a cooking one. We get a lot of magazines delivered, though, and they are high-end ones like Town & Country, Vogue, etc. We don't know why but a couple of years ago they all started coming in our daughter's name. She didn't subscribe and no one has paid for them so we don't know why they keep coming specifically addressed to her.
DeleteI do love Diana's Boys, William and Harry. Last month, when I was in Las Vegas, I was riding an elevator to the casino lobby and a group of us complete strangers were ooh-ing and aah-ing about Kate's pregnancy. It was nice the way her happy news brought us all together like that.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about 2 1/2 Men. I'm a platelet donor -- which takes a long time -- and I was stuck watching rerun after rerun of it at Lifesource. I didn't complain because everyone else seemed to enjoy it. But I would have given my kingdom for my headphones.
I will admit it's nice to hear the boys are more like Mom than Dad.
DeleteKudos for being a donor!
I'm trying to answer comments on my blog and to comment on the blogs of others that I find interesting. I am always disappointed that I get so few comments on most of my entries.
ReplyDeleteI don't get many comments, either, except for on the weekend memes. That's probably my fault. I've been rather sporadic with posts the last few years. Back in the early days of blogging I posted daily and had a pretty big community built up. The back and forth in those days between bloggers was a lot of fun. I miss that.
DeleteYour final sentence is spot-on! I love how you've tackled an edgy topic with grace.
ReplyDeleteGetting to know you has sure tempered my relationship with the busses I encounter each weekday! (*smile*)
Thank you and if I've inspired a kinder attitude toward school buses my job here is a success! LOL
DeleteYet again, a few of our answers were pretty much the same. I never watched 2 1/2 Men so have no reference point for it, but I can understand what you are saying about it. Wishing you a good week ahead, Stacy!
ReplyDeleteThank you and a good week to you, as well!
DeleteOh-yes, total agreement about 2 and a half men--at first it was funny but then it got too crude.
ReplyDeleteWaaaaay too crude. Especially for a show that was on at 9:00 in its heyday and is on at 7:30 in reruns. I know I wouldn't want to have to explain a lot of the things they talk about on there to a child.
