1) In the video for this song, the Beach Boys dive into the pool with all their clothes on. Have you ever ended up in the water while fully clothed? If yes, were you pushed?  Yes and no.


2) In this song, Mike Love sings he wishes "every kiss could be neverending." Where did you receive your first kiss? Was it wonderful, or awkward?  My first "real" kiss was at a jr. high dance with the boy I went to the dinner dance with.  I liked him, but wasn't head over heals so it was sort of awkward more than wonderful.
 
3) Brian Wilson was the creative force behind the Beach Boys. It's possible that the group's legendary and unique sound came from a incident of bad parenting. Brian's father hit him so hard with a wooden plank that he is deaf in his right ear. Which of your senses is sharpest -- sight, hearing, smell or taste?  Probably not my sight since I wear glasses every moment I'm awake...not taste...possibly smell...probably hearing.  I can hear the pop in a can fizzing when we're watching TV, though the other night when out with friends at a crowded restaurant with live music I couldn't understand a thing anyone was saying.

4) Brian's brother Dennis was the cutest member of the group, and also the only one who could surf. Have you been to the beach yet this summer?  No and I'm throwing myself a big pity party about it.

5) Dennis was also the Beach Boys' most colorful member. In 1968, he struck up an unfortunate and dangerous friendship with Charles Manson. Is there anyone in your life that you worry has bad taste in friends/lovers?  My daughter.  She has always chosen friends who are either mean to her or put her in bad situations.

6) Lead singer Mike Love is the grumpiest Beach Boy. He refuses to perform if the concert promotional materials refer to the group or their songs as "oldies." Does it bother you to hear the songs, TV shows and movies of your youth described as "classics" or "oldies?"  Not really, but "classic" is a lot kinder than "oldie."

7) This song has appeared on soundtracks for movies as diverse as Shampoo (1975), The Big Chill (1983),  50 First Dates (2004) and It's Complicated (2009). Do you own any movie soundtracks?  I just bought the Hairspray soundtrack at a sale last week, but I used to own a lot of soundtracks before my CD collection got stolen several years ago.  



8) In 1966, the year this song was popular, the Miranda Warning became law. Without looking it up, can you recite any of the Miranda Warning?  You have the right to remain silent.  Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law.  You have the right to an attorney.  If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you.....  That's all I've got. 

9) Random question: The local college is pleading for models of all ages and sizes to pose for the life drawing class. Would you help the kids by volunteering to pose in the nude?  She didn't just say no, she said H-E-DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS NO!!

  1. Hey Stacy. I'm with you on the HELL NO to the nude posing, lol. I'm sorry about your daughter's choices; that has to be hard. We haven't gotten to that stage yet, whew.... My CD was (partially) stolen as well, and I'm still grumpy about it even though I can pull up anything I want now and stream it, ha. It sucks to be robbed, though. :( Have a great weekend, on that fun note! ;)

I do have some hope my daughter is maturing and getting better about the people she surrounds herself with...she did cut off a friend who is addicted to pain killers (and as we know how it goes, probably the next stop will be heroin) and was asking her daily for them (even on Facebook!). When the friend's husband posted on her Facebook that he'd pay her for her pain meds she finally put an end to it. Yea!!

      It totally sucks to be robbed...especially of my music. They could have taken anything but the music or the books and I'd have gotten over it.

    It seems so far this morning we all have someone whose romantic/friend choices aren't the best. Except Diana, who has her own mini-Manson. We have a surprisingly colorful little band here at Saturday 9. ;)

    1. Really? I didn't check it. I just tried to remember every cop show I've ever seen. LOL

      We are a varied group for sure. I'm glad. It makes it more fun than if we were all exactly like minded.

  3. I remember my daughter coming home with people like that.Sometimes, you just have to have faith in how well you raised your kids to make decisions. I often wonder how my mom felt when I did dumb stuff like that.

  6. I chose to mention my own bad choice in a relationship, rather than mention sisters and sons, since they read my blog now and then. Of course, our choices are our own and theirs belong to them. Sigh. H E double hockey sticks NO for me too! LOL

    1. That they do. It's a hard lesson for us moms, I think, to let them go and stop worrying about every little thing. Sometimes I have to tell myself out loud..."It's not my problem."

  7. I just went to a "do" at a place last night, and the first thing I asked for was earplugs. They had them at the ready!
