A Slow and Steady Hodgepodge

1. 'Slow and steady wins the race'...tell us about a time this was true in your own life.

Is it awful that I can't think of anything? I'm more of a last minute kind of girl.

2. 'As slow as molasses'...Do you like molasses? How about maple syrup? Caramel? Butterscotch? What's your favorite of the slow moving treats mentioned here, and what's your favorite food made with that sweet treat?

I like all of those, but my favorite is definitely Butterscotch and my favorite treat is Oatmeal Scotchies...oatmeal cookies with butterscotch chips.

3. Your favorite slow song?

I don't have a favorite...pick an old power ballad from the 70s or 80s.

4. Your favorite thing to make in a slow cooker or crock pot?

I cook quite a few things in the crock pot and I'm trying to learn to make more. I love throwing everything in a pot and without any other effort on my part finding dinner is ready at the end of the day.  I just did a roast in there yesterday and it was yummy!

5. 'You may delay, but time will not.' ~Benjamin Franklin Are you more a hurrier or a delayer when it comes to unpleasant tasks that need doing? What are you currently either delaying or hurrying to get through this week or month?

I tend to delay them till I absolutely have to do them.

6. Tell us three things you encounter regularly or even just occasionally that you find to be annoyingly slow.

Cars....right after they pull out in front of my bus, the progress on the bathroom remodel, and this one boy on the bus...I swear he walks like he's encased in Jell-o.

7. March is National Craft Month. Are you crafty? Tell us about something crafty you'll try in the next thirty one days. Or something crafty you'd like to try or wish you had the skill to make happen.

No, I'm not particularly crafty.  I'm creative.  Does that count?  If I was crafty I'd love to knit.  I've seen some gorgeous creations out there.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

Lots and lots of rain today.  There's already been some localized flooding.  I'm sure it will get worse as the day goes on since there is more rain due and because all that water up in the ridges has to run down to the lower areas and those creeks were looking pretty full as it was.  The good news is that it's still in the 60s!  I guess the colder weather is coming back soon enough.  I even heard a rumor about snow on Sunday.

This storm system caused a lot of problems before it got here.  I hope that wherever you are, you are safe, warm, and dry.

  1. I couldn't think of anything either. I know I need to use my crockpot more often. I love everything I have made in it and there are so many great ideas on Pinterest. You stay safe and warm. We have had a lot of rain in Southern California. About 3 days a week since December. Of course we needed it!

  2. If nothing else this week's Hodgepodge inspired me to get that tax organizer done! I'm almost there, and am hoping to get to the po before they close. It will feel good to wake up tomorrow and not have that be my first thought : ) Try the roast! It's so easy and so good.

  3. I've visiting via the Hodgepodge. :) I'm a fan of slow cooker roast beef, too. We've had a lot of rain and localized flooding over the last couple of days, along with tornado warnings yesterday and snow forecasted for tomorrow. I hope you have a great day!
