Here we are, just a little over 2 days away from Christmas, and I'm sitting here blogging and watching An American Christmas Carol on Prime Video. I remember it from when I was in my late teens or early 20's. Henry Winkler is Scrooge. (He's really a very creepy Scrooge.)
There are plenty of other things I should be doing, but sometimes in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Christmas a girl's gotta sit down and put up her feet...purely in the interest of preserving her sanity.
Anyway, it's probably too late to bother, but I'm going to answer the Sunday Stealing questions. Perhaps it's a bit of OCD rearing its head, but I feel really weird if I don't do all the memes every week. I should probably get some therapy for that. HA! However, that isn't on the list this week, so here is my take on this week's questions.
Taken from the Sleepy Rambles
1. Do you ever give things away to your friends? Sure. Now and then I come across something I know a friend would really like and that I don't really use or enjoy any longer. Why not pass it along to someone who will appreciate it?
2. Does it make you uncomfortable when your parents talk about finding people attractive? If your parents don’t make comments like that, what sort of things can your family members say that do make you feel uncomfortable? We don't really talk about that kind of thing, but back after my dad had passed and Mom began dating my stepdad, she confided that she hadn't even managed to kiss him yet because she felt guilty because of my dad. I have to admit that made me VERY uncomfortable.
3. Have you ever heard of an “alternative spring break”? Have you ever participated in one or known someone who has? No and no.
4. Is there anyone’s friendship or relationship, in particular, that makes you jealous? My best friend and Bible study teacher and her husband have the most amazing marriage I have ever seen. They are nearly 70 and still as romantic as young lovers. I wouldn't say I am jealous of their relationship, but I'd love to have a marriage like that. I don't know anyone else who does. He treats her like a queen and she still looks at him like he's Prince Charming after 50 years....and no matter what I write, I can't do justice to the reality of their relationship.
5. Is there a book series where you loved the first book, but for some reason the other books in the series just didn’t measure up? Yes, the Left Behind series. The first two, maybe even the first three, were very good, but after that they kept them coming out very quickly and the lack of time spent on developing them showed, in my opinion.
6. Are you a registered voter? Yes, I am. I registered as soon as I turned 18 and I have always been diligent in keeping up with address changes and such. I always vote. These days I am disgusted with both political parties, but remain registered with one since it is the only way my state permits a person to vote in the primaries.
7. Are there any stores/restaurants that you would like to shop/eat at, but there aren’t any located near enough to you? Not that I can think of at the moment.
8. How many people would you say you are close with? Maybe 25 or 30. Who are they? Family and a few friends.
9. Do you ever have smell hallucinations? No
10. Is there something that you did not used to take seriously, that you either now take seriously or wish that you had in the past (e.g., a relationship that you miss, your education, etc.)? There are a few things...health, career/education, financial planning...
11. Are there any subjects that you are interested in so much that you would read whole books or academic journals about them? Christianity, ancient Egypt, psychology, Native American tribes, just to name a few.
12. Are you physically affectionate with your friends? Do we hug and such? Of course!
13. When you were in school, did you witness a lot of bullying? How did the teachers react to name-calling or violence? Yes, I'd say there was a good bit of bullying back then. I went to several different schools and it was in all of them. I don't recall teachers doing anything unless it was severe. Back then I think we were all a lot more thick-skinned. We got over things a lot better than kids do now.
14. If there is a specific celebrity (or two, or three!) that you dislike, is it because of petty reasons or is it because they’ve done something absolutely damning in your mind? I don't care for those who harm another person, lie blatantly, or speak ill of this country and its people.
15. Are any of your friends/relatives actually impressive artists or writers? Several can write well or create passable art, but I don't know that any of them would be call "impressive."
I think teachers are useless when it comes to bullying. Had a teacher seen the fight I was involved in, no doubt he would have blamed me for striking the first blow.
ReplyDeleteMind you, as I said, some teachers were bullies themselves.
:o)
Cheers

ohhhhhhhhhhhhh don't even get me started on the bullies, some of the biggest bullies I currently know are professors. Great answers and I agree with most of them, smiles. Have a very Merry Christmas my friend, smiles.
ReplyDeleteInteresting questions this week! I've never heard of alternative spring break either. I get taste hallucinations now and then but never a smell hallucination. Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteI have a great book on the American Indian that I picked up in the Smokey Mountains many years ago. It covered a lot of their religion and mythology. Fascinating stuff.
