Thankful Thursday: I Smell Like Walter

Good morning! I'm linking up with sweet blogging friend, Rebecca Jo @ Knit By God's Hand, for the bestest day in the blogosphere...Thankful Thursday. It's the day on which we gather to do a little "bragging" on God and be thankful for all that he's blessed us with in the past week. It's always amazing and uplifting and encouraging to see all the diverse ways God is good. He gives each one of us just what we need!

On with the thankfulness!

This week I am thankful...

* today is my day off!! I got to sleep in and now I'm still sitting here in my jammies, snuggling with my pup, and spending time with all of you. It's a great way to start the day.

* my finger seems to be doing fine after having to get it lanced the other night to drain all the goop of an infection out and so far, the heavy duty antibiotics don't seem to be messing with my digestive tract...of course, I am taking a probiotic and eating Activia on the advice of the ER doctor.

* I didn't have to wear gloves all day at work yesterday. The ER doctor also told me to wear gloves at work until the finger heals. Work does not like us wearing gloves when we are not specifically doing something with a patient, or in a public area. They also cringed at the idea of how many gloves I'd go through in a day with changing them to avoid contamination. So, one of the RN's remembered they have these other things. I don't know what they are called...I know the not so nice name my younger co-workers call them, but we won't go there...anyway, they are basically just the finger of a glove that I can put on just the finger with the boo-boo. I wore them most of the time and I could pull gloves on over them when I needed to.

* the weather is changing. Even though I saw some snow flurries this morning and we are supposed to get an inch or two of snow tonight, it just feels different...spring is in the air!

* for a fun day out with a friend last Saturday. It had been a while since I'd managed a girls' day and it was perfect. We ate fabulous foods and we shopped and we laughed. I love how time with a good friend recharges my batteries.

* that the cruise we are taking this summer to celebrate our friends' 50th anniversary and our 35th anniversary is officially booked! Now we are choosing excursions to go on. We will be sailing from Baltimore and heading up the New England coast putting into port in Boston, Bar Harbor, Portland, St. John's (New Brunswick) and Halifax (Nova Scotia). I'm so excited...it will be my first cruise!

* the gardening catalogs are starting to arrive! I love browsing through them and dreaming and planning what to grow this summer. It reminds me that winter is not forever.

* for a nice dinner out with my mom and step-dad. Good food and we finally got to hear all about their big cruise and all they saw.

* for my Bible study group who are all wonderful friends (and chosen family). Being with them always makes me smile and feel better and we have the best times getting to know our Lord better! I'm thankful, too, that we are meeting up tomorrow night for a covered-dish dinner at one member's home and doing an overview of Revelation for our new members who missed out on the three years we spent studying Revelation.

* for Salon Pas pain patches. I recently thought to try putting them on the arches of my feet before work....AND IT WORKS! I have significantly less foot pain. Those patches are my new best friend, though I may get hugged in the grocery store by strange women because I do smell like Walter as they heat up. Ha!

* Colton is coming to stay with me for a bit this afternoon while his mommy goes to an appointment. I love when I get him all to myself because these days he is his Pappy's boy and they like doing all the guy things.

* for all of you, of course. I pray your day and the rest of your week are overflowing with blessings!

Now I am off to get some chores done before the boy arrives. It's one of those things, ya know....not only does the laundry not do itself, I'm pretty sure it breeds and multiplies in the hamper!

    1. Oh, I hope we see whales. I so want to, but we did decide against the whale watching excursion because of the cost and the fact that there's no guarantee you will see any whales.

    1. The catalogs are the surest sign of springs being around the corner since we will still have patches of bad weather for weeks yet.

  5. I'm so glad you got to enjoy a cozy morning in. nothing like it.
I've seen those 'finger gloves' that protect just one finger. you'd think the hospital would have given you some to take home with you. Glad its feeling better though!!!
We thought Spring was coming yesterday - in the 60's... but nope - its snowing today & highs in the 20's next week. GEEZ

    1. It was only in the 30s today, but after last weekend's wind it didn't feel too bad. The snow is coming sometime tonight.

    1. I had tried the patches a few years ago and didn't like them, neither did Tim, but I had heard they changed the "formula" and they are so much better!
